Replaced my Dart

Did an all around safety check on the Dart, everything was good except for the rubber brake lines, those will be switched for braided lines. Also put in a bigger fuel cell, 8 gallon

Always good to have a dedicated race car 'one that is not so rare like a 340 car' so that you don't keep destroying real rare muscle cars. It's not a brag to have a 340 car at the strip, its a liability...it's stupid.
Go get some slant car to go race in and wreck 'hopefully not'. What you did was like wearing a tuxedo to a mud wrestling contest...like using fine china plates as frisbees. Aside from some special nostalgia g stock/a stock race....it makes no sense to bring those cars into the aisle a walls..
I have a numbers matching 1970 Swinger 340/727 with factory A/C. I found the build sheet, all legible, undre the back seat. I rebuilt the ALL original motor, but wrapped it in plastic and put it in the corner. I'm building a TF head 408 for her, because I want to run her hard once in a while, including the occasional 1/8th mile at the local strip in the summer. I'm keeping all the body stock, and not doing anything that can't be undone to restore it and run it across the block at Mecum. I'm not being an a**, but I'd like your opinion on my plan if you were in my shoes. Restore and baby it, or go my route with a "disposable" engine and have some fun on the streets? I respect your opinion, I'm 63 and questioning my plan. All polite opinions are invited. Paul.
 
and there's a lot of /6 people here who would probably prefer the V8ers would quit cannibalizing the cars they like.
I'm the other way around, my daily driver is by vin number a GTS, original 340 (LS23P8) car but I bought it as shell with no driveline and practically had to dig it out of where it sat. All I had was a slant six at the time. Its been on the road for 6 years now with the slant and OD 833 and gone though 2 sets of tires because it's my only transportation and goes everywhere. The slant might become a temporary...permanent thing because it's been the most reliable car I've ever owned.

It's just numbers, they are all the same.

My friend do whatever you wish with your car. I won't belittle you or call you stupid just as I wouldn't tell you what to wear or what to eat. It's your ride and your passion, enjoy it. I've been racing on and off since 1986 and have only had 1 bad incident at the track, I'd say that was a pretty good run! No pun intended. Have fun with your car and enjoy it and throw us some pictures
 
We were on 94 just about the whole way. It all happened pretty fast, I saw the ad on Friday night and Saturday morning we were on our way. We left at 10 am Saturday and got home at 2 AM Sunday morning, well worth the trip though!

I totally agree, I think someone else here races their Formula S with their original motor tucked safely away while they hammer away racing on another motor. A friend of mine from from years past still has his original 70 cuda 440 six pack that he pulled the motor in the 90's and had a beater motor built for hammering on. When it was brand new we would race each other and others on the street for fun. The 727 was rebuilt by the Chrysler Dealer in NJ twice in '70 and '71 until they no longer tolerated his abuse lol.

Nice plan I guess, everyone wants to see how fast they can go with what they built, understandably. A body In the eighth you won't be over 95 mph with the street strip na sb you're aiming for or most for that matter.
My opinion of what you do with your car ultimately is just that...an opinion. I know that some forget that part when they read the responses and feel judged 'not assuming you felt that way' I'm just saying that's sometimes the case.
Have fun and make sure your doors still close right in the end.
 
I guess my vehicles could all be assigned to a list
1. Every day use
2. Tow or pull stumps out
3. Modify the hell out of it so I can go as fast as possible. Cut, burn, remove, make stronger, weight less. Go out and beat the be-Gee-bees out of it. If it isn’t fast enough try again. Hopefully the end result is it goes fast, doesn’t break in half, and looks good from 50 feet away. If I wanted something to sit back and look at it to enjoy I would start collecting naked woman statues.
 
To our resident nurse... they're not all the same. Tq boxes, springs hoods...value more notably...then variables disc, sway bars, tach, speedo, hood scoops. When you are flocked by people trying to buy your primed 2 diff color dart with dents crooked bumper and craigers only because they see it has 1 item like a dual scoop 340 hood and think it's a 340 car....then as soon as you say it's a slant car.... they become a silhouette in the sunset.... they are not all the same. Like many other things...

Funny I was beating on my Harley once and a fella said" you aint supposed to ride it like that" I said if it cant take what Im dishing out i dont want it Ill get something else...so far with Harley they take it to an extent...:)

I sold my numbers 340 cars.
My cars I beat on are slant cars.
I've not totaled or wrecking into anyone or wall with any of them. I probably hurt them more with constant wot and hard shifts.
When I see roll cages and 20 stickers in the windows.. it doesnt come off as occasional strip use to me. This all gets me thinking now... I need to find an old hemi car to gut and stuff chevy crap into with a heavy ford 9"...then set it on 20"s...probably ball bat the fenders for clearance and maybe wheel of death the inners out too.... then super dave osborne the fkr with 250 shot into the wall @the 60ft and land rooftop on the crowd.
..but 1st let me 1st load some faberge eggs and ming dynasty statues in the trunk for weight to help it hook off the line...

I saw where a great AAR Cuda sold at a Mecomb for $135,000 other week. I had 5 or 6 of them back in late 80's early 90s. 3 or 4 I hd restored to perfect as any. I drove them. I sold them back then when they were cheap.
Would I want them back now? Heck yes, and to the sale they would go!!!!
If I wanted to spend the $$ would I build a clone today? Yes and drive it and not care about anything!:rofl:

I know a young man who I tried getting him into a 74 dart as a first car, I was even going to loan it to him so could get the hang of driving a real car.

He didn't want it because it's not electric, yet he can't afford an EV. So I smiled and thought, yea, good luck getting a prom date on your bicycle, faggit.

The dart is still sitting behind my house, so yea, they are still around.

I had a 74 4 door 318. Was a decent car..for 500 bucks.
