All right another silly exhaust question. I have the 340 HP manifolds I am using on my 340 Barracuda. It seems as far as head pipes (down pipes), there are way more 2.5 inch selection out there many more. Mine seem to measure inside diameter at 2 1/4. Is there some way to use the 2 1/2 pipes since there are so many choices? Thanks

I'm assuming that your talking about the driver's side down pipe?? If so then to answer your question, you might could use 2 1/2 but I can't see going through all that trouble since the exit hole on a 340 manifold is only 2 1/4" (at best). The exhaust can only flow a freely as the smallest diameter in the system. So even if you used 3" pipe the 2 1/4" manifold would restrict it either way. You, or someone else, would have to custom make the down pipe. Even with 2 1/4" pipe it's extremely tight!! I used to make them but haven't made one in years:

I'm just trying to keep my engine bay stock looking. So I went with the HP 340 manifolds for looks and ease. Yes ease. I don't know why but I'm finding like at mancinni the pipes BUT they are 2.5 inch same at TTI. They are both reasonable there 220.00 what you would think you would pay for a couple pieces of exhaust pipe. Classic has them in 2 1/4 but with shipping almost 675.00 I may see if my exhaust muffler shop can make any or something

"what you would think you would pay for a couple pieces of exhaust pipe".............If you're asking about the down pipe, I used to sell them for $90. Never bought an after market down pipe so I have no idea what a good price would be. If you can't make them yourself and you don't know anyone who can make them for you then you're going to have to bite the bullet!! Maybe someone else will chime in??

It just sees odd that if the 273,318,340 manifolds are 2 1/4 there would be a lot more choices. Both TTI and Mancinni say call with numbers before purchase. Maybe I'll find a little out then

Have you reviewed Accurate?

Yeah, it's called bolting them on.

Only the 340 manifolds are 2 1/4" all the others (273, 318) are only 1 5/8". Even the '70s 340 passenger is only 1 7/8". There are also some newer 318, 360 manifolds that are 1 7/8", then there are the newer 360 magnum manifolds some of which are 2 3/16". So the demand for the larger pipes for 340 manifolds isn't a big as you would think???

The TTI head pipes bolt to the stock 340 manifolds no problems. On driver's side they came two ways: one for auto cars and a diff one for 4 spd cars. The pipe is routed differently then stock to avoid pinching the pipe. Good exhaust pipes are never cheap....

Do someone have pictures of this "pinch avoiding" route?

Waldron probably has pipes too.

Thank you guys. Talked to TTI today going with them, they ask all the questions casting numbers heads tranny suspension etc. Also only 267.00 shipped. A lot better than Classics 668.00 shipped...

This is TTI head pipe driver's side. This was for a '69 340 exhaust manifold. It is routed like shown in Treblig post above. TTI provided instructions for modifying the auto kick down linkage (cut reweld lever to narrow) is what I remember. Your engine must be centered/located per TTI specs for pipes to clear. When I had these on my car no clearance issues and no need to dent pipe ect....
