Putting this here since it is a small block. Wasn't this too early for orange on a small block?

"Something" kinda looks a little off in that picture- like it may have been a black and white that got "colorized" at some point, which may explain the more orangey color? Just guessin'.

I don't know. There's another engine ahead of where he is that's orange too. Strange. But yeah, colorizing might be one explanation I guess.

I agree and old photos can fade, and just plain show wrong colors under artificial light. May have started out RED

Yeah, I thought about the fading thing, but I find it incredible that if it's faded, it's faded to EXACTLY Mopar Street Hemi Orange. lol Still possible I guess.

Is this a Chrysler brand car? Not a Plymouth. Doesn't look like a Dodge. New Yorker?

Pretty sure it's been colorized from a B&W photo. Look at the stacks behind the worker's head. On the left they are red, on the right they are gray, like they didn't bother colorizing that part.

I agree it is red. The OEM red on my 67 273 looks orange to the eye

Okay, thats what i thought! But I couldn’t tell for sure at that angle.

Doesn’t the red taillights appear about the same color as the engine below the car? Might be just the fluorescent lighting changing the appearance of the red to orange.

The exhaust manifold is orange ??? Its likely someone used a computer graphic program on it . I have an 318 out a 67 rag Monaco but I was never sure if it was original. It is red .

I believe they painted the motors after the exhaust manifolds were installed. The overspray burned off after the engines were fired up.
