Two ton jacks, one purchased in the 70's, the other about 30 years later. Had to add oil first time to both last year.

Several months ago, a guy on a FB Dodge Dart page has a jack seal fail, car crushed his leg, many pins. Awful. Seeing his x-Ray, I bought a new jack.

Why on earth would he go underneath the car without jackstands (at the least) supporting it?
Rule #1.
NEVER trust just a jack, new or not.

Only reason I can figure is a genetic lack of brain cells.

About 25-30 years ago my young neighbor died under his Mopar. He used to borrow the big blue jack shown in my post, but he wasn't using my jack at that time, because I had moved.

I jack up the car, place jack stands without getting under car, lower car onto jack stands, the put a little positive pressure back on the jack.

Here's Brad a friend of mine that slid under a vehicle supported with a jack and no jack stands. Don't be like Brad. He was damn lucky!
