What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

-
Had to take some time off from the car after I pulled the motor last year. We had a little boy born on Mother’s Day 2021. Picked up recently where I left off. Both inner fenders replaced from a donor car as well as the rad support. Cleaned and painted the firewall. Lots of work but no more rust.

Would that old Hemi grind cam be 471/474 lift?
Yep...this was the hydraulic cam I put in it "back in the day." It was the DC cam 1 step below the old 284/484 cam I had in my 383 Charger at the time. The small block cams were very similar to the big block cams. It sounds decent...but more would be better!! (Just kidding as this cam is fine for this car.)

Picked up a spare 489 case center section. Good deal from a friend for the avatar car. Plan to turn this into a 4.10 with a spool for the 1/4 mile and use the 4.56 that's in it for the street & 1/8th mile. We'll see...

Congrats! we brought a daughter home a week after yours. I know what your last 9mos have been like. good luck....

Thank you! And congrats to you as well! Yup pretty slow progress on my hobbies. Lol.
Congrats to both of you! Enjoy'em while they're little because it just doesn't last. I parked both the cars I had at the time when our first child was born. It was 27+ years later until I even looked at them again so you both are way ahead of me!!!

Appreciate that!
I've been staying much closer to home since the babies started showing up. Unfortunately for you guys, I've been on here way more, between feedings and diapers. I think I had 20 posts up until 2019. I don't know about other dads, but I gotta escape out to the garage for a little while when the crying gets on my nerves.

They really are a lot of fun. Honestly can’t believe my little guy is already 9 months old. He’s a wild man though for sure. Now he’s getting a little bigger I’ve been taking him with me to the garage for small projects. This was a couple weeks ago, putting his sisters jeep together for her 3rd birthday. Hopefully he’ll be helpin me in the garage when he’s older.

Got them both out for a little drive around the lot. Way too much salt on our streets for a cruise.

Get him used to the sounds of a garage/shop. 2 of my grandkids cover their ears and run from me pounding on something with a machinist's hammer. :BangHead::BangHead:
Drives me crazy!!!

Plugging the hole a F'n 2 inch machine screw put in the mommy vans front tire! Picked it up in the Home Depot parking lot after I got a case of F40's to replace the 4x2 flickering garage lights. I still had the auger, needle and rope seals from an old kit. Badda boom. Took me more time to inflate the tire with a hand pump than to patch the tire.

The 489 case from post #9428 above met up with Mr Wire Wheel on a disc grinder and is feeling much better...

And now back to work on the column for the 71 Demon. I'll get it ready but leave it out until I address the master cyl and replace the front K-H calipers with new rebuilt ones I got from a member on here.

don't kid yourself I ran that cam in a 340 you're going to want to advance it 4 degrees and have headers, and at least 355 gear ratio or it's going to be soft on the bottom, great cam!

I had this cam in the car/engine for about the last 4 years before I parked it in 1993. The car has a 3.55 sure-grip but just the 340 exhaust manifolds. Back then, I never drove it much as I spent more time with my 69 Charger (big blocks are fun!). So this car was never built to be anything other than a "stock and original" kind of car. I raced the Charger back then so this car was just something to have and be a looker...and the cam made it sound a bit better. Both cars were then parked for 27 years while we raised our family. So this 340 Demon was then and will be today a sheep in wolf's clothing. It literally only has 37k miles on it! I added the avatar car in 2019 (as a roller) to play and goof off with!!

Remove the old factory sway bar and replaced it with a hellwig. took it out for a spin and what a great difference!

Finshed my sub frame connectors, yesterday. I installed brackets for future fuel line upgrades, on the passenger side connector. (Remember, I am a amateur welder!)

I had the 280° mopar cam 1 cam smaller than the 284 cam. It ran good. Now replaced it with the 292 purple cam advanced 4° @ crank. It runs real nice too! The sound is music to my ears!:steering:
