Post your 12 second small block combos

-
Just doing a little internet bench racing here. I'm sorting out a 340 on paper using the old "How To Hot Rod Small Block Mopars" tables in the back of the book. I want to get into the 12's. The tables are basically saying use a TQ or Holley 7-850, headers, (duh) Holley Strip Dominator/M1, the MP .528 solid cam and an electronic distributor.

I'm curious though as to how you got into the 12's with your small block A-body. Looking for non-stroker stuff here - 3.31" arm only.

Please list engine specs like cam, compression, head choice, ported or not, valve size, carb, pistons etc., chassis/trans/driveline, tire size, weight of the car if you know it and any other pertinent info.

Pics are good too!
Seems to me the OP is asking about 318s and 340s only, unless somebody out there is running 360s with a 3.31 stroke...

Well now that I look at the OP I see that, I was just reading the title and enjoyed looking through and seeing all the small block combinations to reference for potential of different combo's. I also know many others posted about 360's and probably some stroked small blocks.

So is there another thread that meets the meaning of the title that is sticky?

I think your good. I think they made this a sticky to post 12 second combos here. Op posted 11 years ago.

Yeah I noticed after posting to it today it’s over 11 years old! To answer Archeryguys question, there is a ‘post your 11 second setup’ thread from 2018 under:
‘Post 11 Second Small Block Combo’
Edit: That thread was started in 2010 too! Been a long day...

I am looking forward to posting in that thread as well, but I am not in a real hurry to get there. I built the car to run a 12.0 sportsman bracket and dont really want to detune the car. There are lots of cars detuned running 12.0's but even at a 12.2-12.3 dial in I have more top end than those cars due to my converter being a bit tight. The extra top end to this point has given me advantage when wheel racing at the finish line. The only downside may be how much the tight converter hurts my consistency, I should have a better idea about that after a couple more days at the track.

Get that thing to leave the line and it's an 11.80 car. Keep tuning and finding MPH. My guess there is a bunch more MPH there for the taking. Nice and keep at it.

That was Last time i was at the track. since, i’ve stripped a little more weight, gone to electric fans, manual steering.
But haven’t made it back to the strip. I’m sure I will need a to be VaXXed and a “mask” to run under my helmet.

Some people have told me my carb was too small, but every time I have tried a larger one the car slows down??

Little update... Last Weekend on Street Race 1/8. Best time 7.511 60ft 1.904..

picked the kids up from daycare, had dinner, swapped my tires and went to the track for test and tune last night. It was a rare 58* with low humidity with that crazy full moon! Anyway I snuck into the 12's on my first run and I still had two baby seats in the car!!!

Congrats! 60' looked pretty soft if i read that slip right? Nice thing is that 373 is making some smoke, 86 in the 1/8th. That 275HL doesn't get enough attn. imo.

It really needs a better stall and manual valve body. ET being lost in the 60’. 1.89 has been its best 60 so far, usually high 1.9X

That's moving pretty good at your elevation. A shorter tire 26" will also help the 60'
