Dougs D-453

You should be able to check the fit on Summit's site. Welcome to FABO.

DO NOT rely on summit. They have been wrong lots of times.

There are MANY 73+ A body PS, Auto trans cars with D453's installed.

What's the difference between a 70-72 and 73+... motor mounts and steering linkage. Same car from a base layout perspective.

The OP should contact Doug instead of relying on us (or Summit) for the correct information. I would imagine Summit get's their application information from the manufacturer but it could be incorrect.

Dougs is even wrong about fit in this one. They say 72 yes, 73+ no... Huh??? . Ask them why, they have no clue.

I posted pics above of a 73+ car with 453's installed...

Wow, That's B/S on their part. They should have checked with us first. Looks like a nice fit.

I called them about 7-10 years ago. Mentioned they should send me a couple sets of headers for all the D453 sales on cars these don't fit. The manager wasn't amused. Yet they still haven't updated the fitment... Money walking out the door for them.

Yep, calling Doug's is a complete waste of time. I was in the Summit store in GA asking about headers for my '73 Road Runner with a small block and asking specifically about Doug's. Summit had no clue. Called Doug's while I was in the store and waited 20 mins to get a younger person who could read a fitment chart and told me that Doug's DIDNT make any header to fit a small block Mopar. Called Jegs the guy said yes - D453 will fit. So in a couple weeks we will know if they do or don't. Gotta get the firewall and fenders painted before it goes back together.

I'm surprised they haven't updated the applications on those. Doug was in on the development on those headers and he didn't miss much. From what I remember, it was either the idler or pitman arm that got worrisome on the spool mount cars, but it's been a while and I could be misremembering.
Man he was fun to hang out with back in the day.

They went on with no real problems. Driver side slid right in. I had to trim a casting nub off the bellhousing on the passenger side. I had the front wheels up on risers (about 12”) and the engine lifted out of the mounts 1-2”.
