Hey, I have been putting my front end suspension back together after purchasing new Delrin bushings from BAC (thank you) and a stage 2 kit from Dr Diff (thank you Cass). I am reinstalling the LCA with new adj strut rods and reading a lot of @72bluNblu posts for directions. A couple issues have appeared and need some help from the wisdom of these boards; this my first time rebuilding any front end.

1) since I am using Delrin bushings I would like to tighten them to spec (145 fit/lb) while it is jacked up. But I cant come close to getting it torqued because it is spinning. I also read that an impact may be needed for the instant torque. After trying my impact wrench this morning I am still unable to torque it to spec. I am using the locking nut and regular washer that came with the new pivot shaft from BAC.

2) Regarding the adj strut rods, how do I tighten the locking nut on the backside of the LCA? It spins when the nylon provides tension and threads out of the rod; because it's left threaded. I tried to get a wrench on the front side but there isn't enough room to slip a wrench over the fixed hexagonal portion of the end piece.

I feel like I'm missing something in my approach...

Thank you for your time/assistance in advance.

I thought those new pivot shafts have two flats on them to hold them from spinning. Hold one side with open end wrench, then you tighten the nut on other side.

they do but is the distal end (male insert into the female end of bar) that reverses out when I try to tighten.

Call Peter Bergman who sold them to you he will be able to guide you

Tighten the studs onto the K-member without the LCA's or Delrin bushings.

Then slide the delrin and LCA over the stud end.

Then slide Torsion bar into the LCA.

This!

I haven't seen Peter's new LCA pivots but if there are flats cut into the shoulder of the LCA pivot just hold that on the backside and torque to spec. Then slide the LCA with the Delrin bushing installed onto the pin.

Same for the strut rod actually. When you slide the LCA off the LCA pivot, remove the double male from the end of the strut rod. You should be able to get on the hexes of the double male to torque the nut on the backside of the LCA. Normally you can grab a couple hexes on the double male with the strut rod assembled, those 67-72 sway bar tabs may be getting in your way.

Then, when you slide the LCA back onto the LCA pivot, just line up the aluminum strut rod tube and start threading it on when it reaches the end of the double male already installed on the LCA.

The delrin LCA bushing will spin on pivot shaft, so, the pivot shaft can be torqued to spec all by itself in the K. Same for the strut rod. Once the double male is tightened on the LCA all of the adjustments will be done with the jam nuts and the threaded tube.
