Thermostat Housing

-
The one in Berlin I believe is in the Ocean State Job Lot parking lot.
Maybe next week I will go. Have you been to that cruise? I go to a lot in my area and its always the same cars. Would like to go further away to check out some new iron.

I had the same problem. Real Gasket worked until I installed a Flowkooler water pump, blew the Gasket out, twice. Went with a Flashpower o-ringed housing, have not had an issue since.
No one has ever commented on being able to turn the thermostat shutter, bottom of the stat. This may or may not be one of the reasons all of us at some time or another have had a problem with leaky housings. Not going to purposely blow antifreeze all over the engine bay by closing the shutter to see what happens.

That’s the best style out there. Ki

Went for a 30 mile drive on Saturday and so far still bone dry. I received my silicon gasket over the weekend so I have it on my shelf ready to go if needed.

i found that my water pump gasket surface was warped from overtitightening , wonder who did that ?/

I used to be guilty of over tightening the thermostat housing bolts, until I read the torque requirements for the Real Gasket.
Max 25 in lbs.

how does that work? it makes thermostat to be a plug? where would u need that? im asking because i have that kind of thermostat in my car

Obviously, it still flows, but it looks to me to have a better flow shot when open. I never tried it both ways, kinda difficult to prove, but mine are open.

I've also had my "Real Gasket" blow out on me twice, this with a stock water pump. I'm now going to a Flashpower, or Billet specialties o-ringed housing. For such a simple concept, thermostat housing leaks are infuriating.

I have a 360 magnum in a Durango, I fought and fought with a leaky thermostat on that damn thing, changed the water neck a couple times, was about to change the intake thinking it might be warped, finally bought a new water neck and hasn't leaked since, been about 8 months or so. I hate that I can't find anything but a stamped steel one for a magnum, being as tall as they are
