This is my second H code 340 Demon and not sure what is correct for the hood scoop bezels for 71?

I have seen black; I've seen chrome and I have seen both with the 340 emblems.

I've been looking at pics on the net and looking for factory drawings to no avail.

I saw this Demon ad from 71 and it shows a black bezel with no 340 emblems, but not sure if this was a pilot car or prototype?

Then I saw this car from BJ auction with the chrome scoop and emblems/

Anyone have any factual data they can share please?

TIA!

I've always thought only the 70 Dodge Dart had the emblems on the scoops....demons had on fenders

There was a discussion years ago on Moparts. I believe they came up with two variation of the hood stripe.

The survivor orange demon doesn't have the hood blackout and scoops does it? I cant' think of an original paint example.

That yellow cars hood is botched up. It's a painted like a 70 Swinger.

That's a good point. I can't think of any Mopar that had double engine size callout on fender and hood.

Can't think of any other brand that did that either.

My 71 Demon 340 came with the chrome bezels. I have the 340 decals on the scoops because I like them there but I believe they were supposed to be on the fenders.

Chrome bezel on scoops if you had the hood and fender chrome.

Demons show 340 on fenders either decal or chrome logos.
Dart is the only one with 340 script on scoops but it is your car. Run it how you want.

The trim was black and no 340 emblems on any 1971 Demon 340's and Duster Twister's . Unless you paid for the trim package which included belt line chrome below the windows. Very rare and very hard to find. The demon below was factory with trim package the car was Factory EV2. it had the chrome but no call outs

The 70 340 Swinger and 69 and 70 Coronets , Superbees and R/T's had the chrome trim and engine call out emblems.

Many 71 Demons including one I have did not come with scoops or hood stripe. Then owners would add scoops from different models. Or when restoring or rebuilding a Demon the earlier scoops were used because there were many more to be had.

Its interesting that the brochure photo does NOT have hood pins but the "blue print" below it shows them, so that is probably a pre-production car.

Thats good information! My car is coded on the tag for the belt chrome molding, but it is missing. Not sure I want to put it back on even if I could find it?
My car currently has the black bezels and hood stripes.

my Demon was restored like this

that car has hood molding but black bezel trim

so the belt molding (did it only come in a trim group) triggers chrome scoop molding?
I'm not sure on the trim group? I can look at the fender tag to see what it called out, but it did not come with the belt moulding and the guy I bought it from said he didn't paint it? He had it since new.

I have another that my dad bought new and it's the same way. Just chrome trim on the front and no belt moulding? Not great pictures for detail, but here is that one in 71'.

Ok so on the fender tags they both show M21 and M43, roof drip rail and grille trim. The orange one shows J54 sport hood? Hope that helps?

I don't know which bezels are correct, but I like the chrome bezels and that's what I put on my "incorrect" car. I also had the scoops made without the "340" emblem holes to avoid any false advertising (my car has a 318).

Here is another hood picture. This is a hood with original paint for reference.

More important is notice the tape stripe on the quarter. Thelower edge of the top stripe is dead even with the bottom of the fuel cap opening. And the gas cap is painted black to including the fuel cap handle. This moves the whole stripe up and keeps it off of the wheel opening flare.

Keep a look out for how many have the handle body color and the stripe to low. The picture below is the correct application from Dodge.

My 72 Demon 340 fenders have the 340 emblems on the fenders. I've only seen the 340 callouts on fenders for Demon 340.
