The usual BS, thread and comments by members who spend their time on the N&P forum....
When its three people shot to death in Cedar Falls than its a outpouring of what a tragedy and prayers
Hypocrite phonies

I don't think this was meant to be political in nature, it was a gathering of car folks and their families for some softball, good eats and showing off their low riders.

Let's keep the politics out of it..

Latest news from 10 hours ago says not really Car Show related. It’s an event focused around a weekly softball game used to promote peace between gangs.

Not like the typical car focused events that take place around the world. This is a very unique anti gang violence event.

From the info that’s come out NOW, it doesn’t grant the title “Another car show shooting”

San Pedro park shooting happened during weekly softball game meant for peace

A weekly softball game that for years has served to promote peace between Los Angeles-area gangs was marred by gunfire during the weekend that left two people dead and six wounded.

More than 500 people were in Peck Park in San Pedro Sunday afternoon to watch the softball teams play, barbecue with family and friends, and to show off and check out low-rider vehicles.

Just before 4 p.m., a dispute between two people escalated into a gunfight that spilled over onto the softball diamond. A barrage of shots was fired as people scrambled for cover.

Two men who were shot died at a hospital, while four women and two other men were in stable condition. No names have been released and no arrests made.

A local nonprofit organized the softball league about five years ago to safely bring together members of different Crips sets, according to gang interventionist Skipp Townsend. Sunday’s game — just weeks after the death of the league’s founder in a car wreck — was between teams from Compton.

“It broke my heart,” Townsend, who often attends the games, told The Associated Press on Monday. “We have these type of events so we don’t have shootings.”

On Sunday afternoon, Townsend and other community leaders were a few miles away from the park, participating in the monthly “Peace Ride” to promote solidarity in high-crime areas. A day later, Townsend was left to wonder if the violence might have been prevented had he and the others been at the park.

He said he would have told the combatants: “You’re not going to do it here. You’re not going to ruin what we have.”

Police have offered few details about the shooting, only saying it was “gang-related” and occurred at a permitted softball game after some kind of dispute. Investigators have not yet determined how many people opened fire.

Multiple guns were discovered at the location and recovered as evidence, authorities said.

“It’s Sunday afternoon, you should be able to go and enjoy the park,” said LAPD Capt. Kelly Muniz, a police spokesperson.

Officials initially said there were five people wounded and taken by paramedics to the hospital, but authorities found out later that a sixth victim went to a hospital in a private vehicle.

I thought being a car show it is relevant to us as well. Cars and all. Regardless, it's too bad these things happen to anyone at any place or time. Kids are losing their childhood because adults can't get over themselves.

If I read it and didn't agree, that would be a simple discussion.
Maybe the shitdisturber should understand that just because he has a verdict, it does not make him a judge. But alas, some habits will never die. Somebody just can't leave well enough alone.....wow.

you're right you know..jpg

I thought it was reported incorrectly as a car show shooting. I called it out as a baseball shooting and had little to do with a car show. Cars seem to be getting a bad wrap lately ie. The new bridge in LA getting shut down nightly by demonstrations of donuts and smoke shows. Kids.....and adults.....

I agree. That's what bugged me about this.

Street take-overs and kids doing burnouts in parking lots ARE NOT Car Shows.

And this particular event was a weekly anti gang Softball Game that seems to have element of cars getting together.

Car show, school, work shooting. It's a product of today's society, little to no discipline, kids being raised in broken homes, they don't have respect for their elders. We don't need any more gun laws either, enforce on what's on the books already. Then someone said something about suing the gun manufacturers, how stupid is that, it's not their fault for what people do with their products. I'm 62 and I've never seen a gun kill anybody. I hate to see all the killings too but as I said it's a product of today's society.

I have had guns all my life. My main gun was a Winchester 37A 22 bolt action single shot. I have killed just about every animal that was fit to eat with it. Guns will kill knives will kill snares will kill clubs will kill and yes even hands will kill! So legislate whatever you want but your objective is in full view.

That certainly wasn’t my intention. Just posted as an FYI.

Sounds like it’s been going on for years. And it’s weekly at that.

yes that’s playing with fire. But maybe it’s saved more net lives in the past.

We seem to have a lot of gang activity here. Lot's of random shootings and a fare share of injuries and casualties but when it happens nobody's talking. It's a turf war.

It's as bad a negative light on the car community as the 1300hp Merc., because people will believe the first story they read about it, not any revised stories.

The explanation is that Steve habitually shoots from the hip and gets all emotional by posting anything he perceives as being anti-left wing, or anti-union. He cannot help himself.
And when called out on this he blames Moderators for being biased and self-serving....followed by rants of personal abuse.

Ask me how I know.

How do you know???

LOL, only you from the guy who had me banned because I called out your buddy for being a troll in a simple innocent post about? Refresh my memory, wasnt it cylinder heads? I asked a simple question and once again I had to be subject to your buddies BS and of course you defended him
Come on now Roger, when you bud in, stick your two cents in for some drama, at least tell the whole story
I blame the moderators? Ive defended moderators and just so you know not every moderator agreed with what you did
Now ask me how I know

How do you know???
