So I bought a converted 750dp last year. I finally got it installed tuned it and the way my setup is currently it doesn't like it much. Starting in 1st it'll blow the tires off into 2nd. Cruising in 2nd or 3rd then going WOT it goes mad lean on my Lambda gauge. After it gets past the lean stumble it pulls hard. I'm currently running a 408 with 904. Due to the economy I had to run the converter I had which is a Hughes 2500 stall but almost acts like a stock converter. So question is would I be able to convert my 4160 without buying the $400 kit I've been seeing or is that the only way?

Have any ideas? I don't know what else to do to be honest

I’ve never tuned E85 so anything I can say would be a guess. I would also assume if someone actually went to the trouble to convert it to E85 they removed the core plugs over the main jet well on the metering block and opened that channel up to .188.

That may be the first thing I checked. Those main wells are tapered when the come out of the casting mold. That taper needs to come out.

You may be surprised how many guys don’t do that.

That’s my best first guess. The other thing about E85 is it’s oily for lack of a better term. It’s specific gravity is…damn I can’t remember what it should be. But you have to compensate for that with emulsion.

My recommendation is to buy a dedicated e85 carburetor. The circuitry is much to hard to modify in a gas carb to get the amount of fuel volume you’re going to need.

E85 requires substantially more fuel for the same air. So not only do jets need to be bigger, but so do the metering block passages, booster channel etc. Were these mods were done to the carb?

Yea the carb was converted by a reputable carb shop. They did all the necessaries

What squirters are in the converted 750dp?

That’s why I said you need to verify that the main jet wells have been drilled. Most guys don’t even do it for gas and it needs to be done. Check that out.
Main jet wells have been drilled. They also drilled the air bleeds so would that effect my lean problem on tip in and WOT from cruise? Would I be better off getting another main body with the IAB jets?

Lean on WOT is usually not enough jet, PV channel restrictors are too small and/or not enough fuel pump volume.
