First drive after brake upgrade, then - BANG!

Any updates?

I posted this yesterday ... The torsion bar is fine, boxes are fine. Nothing is broken (like I mentioned in the original post (also why I didn't post any photos)). I assume the motor jumped out of the motor mount, then slammed back in - BANG.

Checked the height on the LCA-s they were off - car was leaning but, not now. Runs a LOT better now that the engine is bolted down properly - as is, I hope - everything else.

I had read in here that it's possible that a torsion bar can "turn" inside the box if it's rusty - that's why I had asked if I had to remove the torsion bar to put it back in place.

I've been turning wrenches since I was 15 y/o but as I also stated - I'm new to torsion bars.

Give the OP a break. He is obviously discouraged and the more he probes the more he finds and is now frustrated. I’ve been in that situation and it can be a bit overwhelming. To the OP, just step back and take a deep breath. After reading the advice given try to respond to the post as quickly as you can with as much info as you can. These guys are truly trying to help and are very knowledgeable and they get frustrated too because they want to help but they are not there
Coddle him all you want, but they're right. How long does it take to smoke a car over really good after you buy it? An hour? Two if you're slow? There's zero excuse for not getting familiar with a car after buying it. He might save his life or someone else's.

Having said that, IMO, the torsion bar clip popped out (IF it was ever there) and the torsion bar backed out. I just bet it's not broken. All of this is easily tended to by getting the car on jack stands on the frame rails all the way around and getting under it and actually LOOKING. We cannot do it for him, so the next best thing is our advice. We're not here to wipe his butt and tuck him in. We're here to help him with his car. We can do that if he listens.

If the torsion bar turns in the socket, there is SOMETHING wrong with related components. Because something does "something" doesnt mean it should.
There is a shitload more wrong than just torsion bars...

Good! Glad to read this. You'll want to clean everything up REALLY good and inspect everything for cracks and breaks. Torsion bars have a lot of tension on them and when that tension lets go quickly, bad things can happen, so make SURE to inspect it VERY closely. Look at the female hexes where both torsion bar ends install and look closely at all of the welds around the torsion bar hex and at all of the welds around the lower control arm pins. These are two very high stress areas you'll want to make sure have no breaks or cracks.

Did you actually READ the post? "NO damage" "Nothing to photograph" The set-up, was a segue to ask TWO questions.
In reference to checking the car out thoroughly - I was literally packing bags to leave the country for two months when I saw the add. I KNEW I was going to have to do work on it, but also trusted the word of the man who sold it to me - something I'll never do again. I've been working on the car in a corner of the parking garage in my building - NOT the best location to work on a car, but I'm doing the best I can - with what I got. As for the bars popping out because the clips are missing - where did you come up w that? The clips are present, and if the bar had popped out - I think I would have seen a sign of that happening. Lastly I didn't come here for you, or anyone else to "wipe my butt and tuck me in".
Please, read the post AND replies again.

So I guess you didn't read post 58. Ok, my bad. I'll move on.

You posted #58 as I was replying to #56.
I know. I was pointing out that you like me missed a post. You know we're HUMAN. It's all good though. Nobody around here gets paid. This is FREE HELP. Also, we cannot SEE your car so there's THAT. Al we can do is make suggestions to try and help. Rather than concentrate on the FREE HELP, you want to get your panties in a wad. That's cool too.

No. Suggesting that I'm here to have my *** wiped is childish. Go berate someone else.

Three things.
There are course thread and fine thread t bar adjusters. They will not be the same length when adjusted, necessarily.
My car has one of each for whatever reason and one is noticably longer even though the car is level.
It's also possible the adjuster wasn't seated in the control arm, and it finally dropped into its little grooves.

Two. With the trans cross member not bolted in, it's possible that the torsion bar cross member popped a weld somewhere, like where it welds to subframe or floor pan or something. That trans cross member is part of the structure and helps so flex in the frame cross member.

Three, those hex ends on the t bars aren't a perfect fit in the socket. It's possible it wasn't seated or maybe there was a tiny rock in there or something, and it finally seated.

All of these would cause the car to drop a bit.

Question, what's the white under the red grease? Are those torsion bars painted white?

Correct and all the op wants to do is cry like a little baby about someone being honest with him. Let him go hide under the kitchen table. He made the list.

Actually, I came asking two simple questions. Seems like a few of you have too much time on your hands to jump all over my post because it lacks photos, or exactly the clues you need to be the first "armchair captain" to solve the riddle. NONE of you seem to have read the post along with the replies I added. Do you talk to strangers the way you've unloaded on me? if so - maybe you should wonder why you have no real friends, and need to be so hostile here on the internet.
SEVENTY ******* replies, and maybe three of them touched on my questions. Do you feel better about yourself now? Go chase yourself!

Fine thread adjusters - I adjusted one of them - now it rides at a level height. Either is was the adjuster, or the motor mount which caused the BANG. The white - looks to be something like plasti-dip on the T-bars though, the numbers on the ends seem to be correct, I'm sure they are after-market T-bars.

Just curious - what side motor mount was missing the nut? I couldn't tell by the photo and may have missed it in the text. I kinda skimmed through to avoid the pissing contest.
