I've almost gathered enough pennies for the Alterktion kit and would like to get a quote for a shop preferably close to the Hayward area to install. Also, preferably a shop who's done that install before but that might be a longshot.
Looking for any shop recommendations!

Aren't the Alterktion front ends a bolt in deal? Should be pretty straight forward with basic tools and a set of jack stands.

For reasons I'd rather not have to explain, I can't do it on my driveway or garage unfortunately.

Got it. You shouldn't have too much of a problem finding a shop that can do it. That'd be easy money for them. Hell, if I had more room at my place, I'd tell you to bring your car over and knock it out for you.

Good luck man.

The torsion bar suspension is also a “bolt in deal” - regardless of the style of suspension it still requires fully assembling an entire front suspension.

You mite want ask if there’s a local mopar member on here that would help you to save you the money and invest it other places. Seems like you will spend money you may not need to. Just saying. Jesse

You must live in one of those areas that don't allow working on cars.
Do me (and us) a favor. Let us know, in detail, how much better the car handles after the Alterkation installation.

That's definitely one of the reasons. Yes, I'll for sure post my experience after it's on the car.

Only a valid comparison if he’s going from a fully built out torsion bar system to the AlterK. If like most he’s going from a clapped out 50 year old factory suspension to the AlterK the improvement will be night and day. But that’s not exactly apples to apples, if he swapped from my suspension (for example) to an AlterK it would be a whole different comparison.

Completely stock to Alterkation so looking forward to that night and day feeling[/QUOTE]

It should be a totally different car if you're going from bone stock, original factory suspension to a brand new AlterK. After all, you're replacing the entire suspension!!!

And I'm not trying talk you out of the AlterK. I personally prefer the torsion bars, and there are pros/cons to every suspension out there. Personally I think the pros of a fully modernized torsion bar suspension outweigh the pros of going with a coil-over conversion, but that's my opinion.

I just think the torsion bars get a bad rap because most folks that convert to an aftermarket coil-over conversion are going from worn out factory suspension to brand new suspension, and that difference would be night and day regardless of whether they installed a coil-over conversion OR replaced all the factory parts with modernized torsion bar suspension parts. It's not a fair comparison to go from worn out 50 year old parts to brand new and then say coil-overs are better- of course it was a massive improvement to go from worn out parts to brand new.

But the shortcomings of the torsion bar suspension as it left the factory can all be corrected without coilovers. You can fix the wheel rate and install better shocks, you can fix the caster angle adjustability, you can add a sway bar and bigger brakes. Coil-overs are just a spring and a shock, nothing magic. Realistically the only improvement going from torsion bars to coil-overs is the rack and pinion (which doesn't improve performance) and header clearance. Everything else that the coil-over conversion fixes can be done with torsion bars too.

Wish I could help you in your quest for an installer, but I do all my own work and since my move last year am currently without a shop. And over 2 1/2 hours away from San Lorenzo.

Not only do these coil over kits generally replace worn out torsion bar suspension, but worn out standard torsion bar suspension (small T-bars and no sway bar). Simply adding a sway bar to the standard V8 torsion bar setup along with modern shocks while keeping the .850" bars will be a night and day difference. Now, add even larger bars and better shocks, etc...

texted my tranny guy about your setip , and he could handle it when he returns from vacation , that he's currently on .

These guys were very good years ago when i lived on the Peninsula. Look into Custom Alignment in Mountain View. Joe, the owner, use to put on the “Duel @ DeAnza” autocross event at DeAnza College.
