Tunnel ram or no tunnel ram...

Agree, that’s a lot of IAB for dual carbs. Sounds like it’s pretty good on cruise. what’s the MAB size? O2 meters are pretty accurate when calibrated. OEM wouldn’t use them if they were that bad. Pump premium and 110 are usually pretty good in the ranges I listed. When you get into oxygenated fuels and such things change. I do agree though you have to tune the engine for what it likes. I still read plugs and jet for MPH but, I find the 02 meter puts me right about where I need to be on most applications I work on. I have a pretty good feel for it, I play with it enough.
I always check plugs, o2 just show’s direction of changes to me. I only use 100 octane in this car.
Not best time of the year for what I’m doing now. Also would like to paint that hood next week and put it back on.

Car is looking great. I am glad you are loving the tunnel ram!

This is how the car runs with minor tweaks on carbs. Will try to make some driving videos soon.
This was recorded 1st time I had the car out.

Ok so I finally put 70 iab in the carbs (I had to rob 2 brawler carbs for that purpose ;-) ) and it idles MUCH better. The 68 set I ordered will be perfect. Doing that I found one downside of having nice billet BLP made main body’s… standard Holley Iabs are too big in diameter! This can be fixed but is annoying and BLP bleeds are 8$ a piece ;-)
Also I put 8x 78 jets and I’m at 12.4 wot now on average with 14.0 cruising. It’s close to perfect as is now.

Time to paint that hood.

I put primer on the hood today. I’m getting used to the look.

Glad to see you like the Indy tunnel ram. I have one on the way. I just got my trick flow 270’s. Also have duel billet 950’s on the way

I too am readying a tunnel ram for install on my W2 408. The plan is to fit it all under a six pack scoop.

Love tunnel rams. I do want a Hilborn 8 stack though....so I am also working on setting one of those up too just in case...

There was a red Barracuda on this forum with hemi and stacks sticking out. Looked great!
I prefer carbs though. I tried injection on different engines and although it worked fine, I prefer simplicity of carburetor. To each his own I guess.

You are going to need to spend some time on this intake to make it fit well but it’s worth it.
Which carbs are you getting?

I hope it fits, I was disappointed that I had to remove my six pack scoop.
I'm hoping it does also. The Pro Dominator is quite short in comparison to other tunnel rams, of course in my case, speaking of small blocks also. I swear I saw a photo where a guy had that setup, but darned if I can find it. I've measured carefully, it should fit.

Bigs performance carbs is building me custom carbs. My intake and heads are going to Wilson manifolds as soon as I get the tunnel ram. Doing full competition port job and gasket match on intake and heads. Hoping for big hp gains.

That should work nice! I think BIGs uses APD carbs and does individual mods when you order billet. I talked to them. I was also VERY tempted with TMC twin blade carbs. Wanted to order but this pair popped up and I could not resist a good deal :)
I wonder what is possible with TF 270 after further portwork. These heads are the most similar to Indy SR head I think. The most I saw with standard intake valve was just over 400cfm @ .800 lift with hand porting by Larry Smith with Indy SR. I was always curious what gains would be possible with 2.25" intakes and I will probably know next season. My idea is to do 572-13 intake opening, match the TR and use new 500ci short block with it. I hope I can find my 230 block in next months o finish the shortblock. Full rotating assembly is waiting.
This is never ending story..................

I went with the 270 head because I know im at my blocks limits. Car went 9.80’s with my 240 heads on my 470” with a gasket matched hi ram and 750’s. I’m guessing new setup good for another 60-75hp. We’ll see.

Good running combo with the 240’s. You ever weight it?

I assume you have enough compression and cam that takes advantage of that so you can easily expect more than you assume with re ported 270s and Indy tr done by Wilson with 950s on top. How it exceeds your expectations!

View from drivers perspective will be cool. I’ll try to bolt it back on the car tomorrow.

10.62:1 compression. Cams a bit small but it’s still a pump gas street car.
