Lets Talk About Coffee

-

My parents drank instant like it was going out of style.

Back around the time I was 15 years old (1978) they had an "instant hot water" dispenser put in under the sink with the faucet pouring scalding hot water. INSTANT instant coffee!!

I don't believe I've seen another one since.

My parents had one put in when they redid their kitchen, couldnt have been more then a decade ago

That thing is gnarly too, i think it heats it up by compression it a little (almost like a diesel)

And it comes out of there with a vengeance

I probably haven't seen another one since most folks don't drink instant coffee.

I can't drink coffee cause it messes with my stomach. I switched to cold brew but after a while even that caused problems.

After reading this thread, I had to go make coffee and take some measurements. My coffee scoop holds EXACTLY one tablespoon. One scoop per 6oz cup. Whole bean freshly ground by me. Kitchen smells like Starbucks without having to take a second mortgage.

Like @memike said, a pinch of salt to take the edge off of the bitterness. My coffee cup holds 18oz with the lid on.

A coffee measure "scoop" is 2 tablespoons. I use one scoop for 2 cups. The morning pot is 6 cups of water and 2 level scoops. I like my morning coffee full flavored but not so strong that it is bitter. I think a tablespoon per cup is pretty standard.
Good ratio !!!
Anymore and its like truck stop coffee thats been setting on burner for 7 hrs

I recently (very recently.) bought a five cup Mr Coffee, just to have something in Cali. (The girlfriends coffeemaker in AZ has two 12 cup carafes.)
I got a quarter cup measure (4 tbls) and use it level for 4 or 5 cups. I haven't decided yet for sure which. The Baileys I add covers a multitude of sins....
First coffee I made in california in several years.

I’ve never had a combined ounce of coffee, tea, or ice tea in my life. There I said it.
