Sad Ending to My Dart Build

-
Damn dude, looking at the pictures makes me feel sick to my stomach. Every one of us lives with that fear I'm sure, so sorry that you are now head first in the shitpile. I wish you the absolute best of luck with your insurance company and if it’s not repairable, then I hope you can find another car as clean and solid as that was.

There is a special place in Hell for people that do that. I have no words except I hope for a happy ending in whatever you decide to do going forward.

I hope that SOB thief gets fed to a woodchipper.

Feet first

This pisses me off so bad, and it ain't even my car.

Dammit this is hard to read. I've been following this build for a looooong time. I wish you the best Brian. Good luck taking care of everything.

Sorry keep looking at how beautiful of a car you built
do it again
keep your chin up

i had a 1990 mustang coupe stolen. it had $5k of damage when i got it back. the police apprehended the POS hiding under someones house after he bailed out of my ride. i never got a penny in restitution. not even a phone call. except to tell me i had to pay towing and storage fees if i wanted my car back.

sorry for your cruiser Brian

so sorry to hear this.
i had state farm for my ins, on my 68 gts,70 duster and went to put my kids warlock on and the agent came over took a few pics of truck and asked for my appraisal ,i gave it to him and he said the appraisal is only needed to set price for bill, they go off of market value to insure the car for loss
so if appraisal is 25000. and car was totaled and the market value is 18000, thats what state farm would pay. they would not give me the appraisal price of car.
so i told them i didnt need their insurance and went with hagerty
better check and see if your state farm agent is gonna screw you over on your car, i hope not

Hagerty's for me!

Called them up , had an appraisal company do an appraisal, they asked me what value I wanted on the car , gave me the price, done!

In writing, guaranteed!

Please keep us updated on your insurance experiance.

I have Hagerty with the sentimental rider. I get the full cash and the car.

Only catch is if it is stolen and later, after settlement, recovered they own the car.

if it was me there would be a percentage of the payout go to pay someone to beat him within an inch oh his life if they find out who did this , a grand or two would buy lots of damage , but i'm a spiteful bastard .

As some of you know, I've had my Dart for almost 17 years now. I have been working on it slowly but surely and finally had it to a point where I was happy with it's looks and appearance. Here is a pic from a show last summer.

Well, shortly after midnight Tuesday morning, someone broke into my buddy's garage and stole my pride and joy and decided to take it for a joy ride. Of course it was during a torrential downpour and the drag radials wouldn't cooperate. This is the result.

I'm still in shock and can't believe that this happened. The thief bailed at the scene but prints were lifted and police found a cell phone inside. The car is fully insured with State Farm as an antique/classic and a claim has been filed. Now, I have to deal with the adjuster for an agreeable value. I have had the car appraised so hopefully that process won't be too bad.

I would like to buy it back and find a nice roller to put my drive train into. If anyone has a lead on one, send me a message.

Thanks for letting me vent. This hunk of chrome and paint has become a part of our family and my adult children actually cried when they saw the pictures. I guess it's time to start the next phase of my Mopar life.

Just a heads up. You have a clause in your policy called a right of appraisal. If they lowball you, you can hire an independent appraiser to do an assessment, turn it in to state farm, and they will be required to hire an independent in turn to do the same.

If they won't be fair with you let me know we will chat. I have been an independent appraiser since 2006.

Damn that sucks! State Farm gave me $35K for mine and I bought it back for $1K and they never had the title so it is still clear. Hope they do you good!

That's not good. Hoping you can recover from that. Just curious, were the keys left in the ignition enabling the theft?

So sorry you had to go through this.We put alot of blood sweat and countless hours into our rides and don't deserve this.I hope they catch the scumbag and he gets what he has coming to him
