Check this out this commentary on the Black Ghost Hemi Challenger that just sold at Mecum for $1,000,000.00 guys and gals!

Comments???

I really wonder what is the true story anyway.

I have heard stories about that car well before the hype at Mecum and UT.

i would not believe UT if he swore on a stack of bibles and had 27,000 nuns back him up, on anything that comes from his mouth. HDKS.

That car's been around longer than uncle Tony's been uncle Tony. I remember reading about it in the early 80s. Scam? What do yall think an original, numbers matching Hemi Challenger in good shape would go for without all the lore and legend? I think it was pretty much right on the money. Those cars are worth a mint. So scam? I don't think so.

I have no opinion one way or the other. Like I've told all yall for years now, I've not viewed one of his videos in its entirety since he's been making them. ....and it's not him, it's me. I cannot STAND videos like that. I just watch very little youtube stuff in general. If "whatever" he's talkin about is true, big whoop. If it's not, big whoop. It has zero effect on my life whatsoever.

There's definitely a lot of hype attached to this car. I'm insured with Hagerty's and got a magazine from them with a 3 page article on it. The story is very entertaining but , like most folklore , probably a bit embellished. I am somewhat in agreement with UT as the car is a 13.5 -14.0 second car at best in stock trim , especially with the street tires provided back in the day. He's dead on about the Silver Bullet being an awesome Mopar backed street racer.
I'm willing to bet the car probably raced but against stock Camaro's , Novas , Mustangs and Chevelles where it would have held its own and thereby getting the street rep it did. It did not compete against the Royal Pontiacs, Yenco's, or COPO's that were on the street back then. They would have handed a stock Hemi Challenger its lunch.

I am not a UTG fan myself, but the car is a Hemi Challenger, the story behind it whether true or not is just added value. In the end, Tony himself will sell his own junk cars as "the famous UTG (fill in the blank) car..." Tony is a content scrounge and a hypocrite...I especially like when he critiques other peoples work and calls them "hacks" (have you seen what he did to the frame on that 66 Charger?) but I'll stop now ...:)

I like how Tony's video says "you' ve been played" Im sure none of his viewers were there placing bids...

There was a 71 hemi Cuda I think 10 years ago that went for that I think its ball park for that Challenger. My 1970 H code 340 dart isnt even done and in primer, I wouldn't take less than 15 K for it the way it sits. I'd get it too...(but, its not for sale...) :)

Sounds just like the leftist Trump haters group.
Hate to hate for the sake of hate without knowing why or what it is there hate is hating on.

I just find it amazing that people hate on this guy’s entertainment when they don’t even have to click on his channel but seem to do so anyway.

Like him or not, he is entertainment. If it’s not your kind of stuff, flip the channel.

His conspiracy idea had merit and if it’s true, awesome story telling. If it’s not, great story.

How do I come to this conclusion?

People are talking about it.

Hey! When I die….. my crap will be up for sale. Do my widow a favor and drum up stories of amazing things to help sell my stuff at a higher price.

Thanks in advance!

Tony is a bullshiting dirtball ...anyone who thinks he is a credible source of info must be just like him. People in general gravitate toward their own image and like mindedness . Calling people who realize that a "hater" is missing the mark. Also what does Tony know about Mecum ,barrett Jackson or any other High end car sales exchange or venue? The only thing hes done in the car hobby is dismantle them and sell parts he knows squat about classic car sales or auctions or values. And, Y'all should know because he sold parts here, its like you are all brainwashed or something into believing some YT bullshitter is some sort of expert...very short term memories here. It amazes me actually.

Cool challenger. Story of the guy owned it is pretty sweet, SF airborne Vietnam. Could care less he supposedly raced it, weren’t most muscle cars raced back in the 60s 70s. Dustin

You guys are just picking on him cause you don't understand how real mechanics do things! You probably us "Machines" to deck blocks.... amateurs...

I can tell you people race now, especially on the highway. Its a competitiveness in the human psyche combined with a selfishness with a dash of assholery... I cant explain it. if you want to experience it drive any year V 8 Mustang down the highway and wait for it...:)

Especially here... i grew up right between wood ward and gratiot on 8mile... and in the 70's and 80's EVERYONE you knew was out street racing.. in the 80's we would go to i-94 in detroit and literally block off the service drive or even the freeway itself to get a race or 2 in.. then everyone would split. Although french road was more fun and insane... ****.. some of my old cars might be worth more than 20k since they raced in detroit :)

P.S. haha i went and looked.. it looks like they still race there, the people that live there have to be like WTF already... that's funny. It's a road on the side of a airport and then all houses/sidestreets on the other side

Ok.. cracking me up how things never change.. we did this back in the 80's and it's still going on :) I miss being young but realize how stupid we were now...

not directed at you specifically. just in general there are two camps those who call it like they see it with Tony and those who try and silence those who call it like they see it. usually by saying they are haters the labels... silence folks, but thats the world we live in especially on the web. it will get progressively worse. facebook has become ghetto and so will youtube. noone good will want to be there getting trolled while trying to share information . Tony resonates well wtih those who want to be like him bullshitting on YT and getting paid and there are alot of copycats. as far as tony i cant sit through listening to him I did at one time, that Lunar outlaw 318 and the way he screwed that young man over did it for me... you dont treat people like that, you either help or you admit you don't know and cant help.

I only found UTG bout a year ago.. started watching and i was like.. ok.. this guy knows his parts and how to get some stuff done, then i would see stuff that was like.. umm WTF.... just noo... and stopped watching.. Nice thing bout this world is you can just not watch something and let other people enjoy it :) I also don't watch Nick due to stuff on there... we all like what we like.

Lol. A theory without any evidence is just bullshit.

Tony doesn't want to believe that Challenger is worth a million bucks and his cobbled together rusty garbage isn't. So, he has to make up stories to discredit that car to make himself feel important. And because it will probably get him more views. But it's all just BS so Tony can make a buck on his channel. Bottom line is he's just jealous of that really nice hemi Challenger.

Are the stories about the "Black Ghost" probably embellished? Of course they are! Just like any old days racing story is, the story that "the older I get the better I was" is absolutely true. Does the Black Ghost have to be faster than all the cars it raced to have racked up a bunch of wins? It doesn't actually. Street races against amateur driver's depend a lot on the skill of the driver, the fastest car definitely doesn't always win.

Bottom line is it's a really nice, single family owned hemi Challenger with some cool nostalgia behind it, and people will pay what they want to pay for that. And Tony will try to inject himself into that story, because he's trying to graft a few bucks out of it.

I think there are just too many old fucks with too much money.. but it's theirs.. they can waste it how they want.. no car is worth a $1m if it's not Italian :)
P.S. the most silly thing is that ugly *** RT cuda for 2.2mil.. that car means NOTHING it's the same as an advertising pamplet and it looks like something george barris would have rejected.. but hey.. 2.2mil.. And i'm REALLY bored at work today :)
