So I put new heads intake and cam in my car and now it sounds like this! I changed all the lifters hoping it would go away but it didn't it runs fine though is anyone having the same issue thanks
Comp Cam 20-223-3
Heads 340 X heads
Intake Air Gap
Block 1970 318 standard bore
Everything thing is new

It won't let me post a 3 second video for whatever reason! So it basically sounds like lifter noise from the back of the engine

XE series cams tend to be noisy.

No idea what part number that is, just a guess at an XE line. Grind number like, xe-268h, everyone will know.

Rob, it's this:

Dude, I told you what the deal was in your other thread. It's a fast rate of lift cam. Xtreme Energy. They are noisy. How many times do you have to read it?

Did you install new lifters that you inspected , make sure they have a crown/dome on top, or if I read your post correctly it sounds like you installed the cam and fired it up, then changed lifters ?? Did you use brake in oil with high zink

Yes I used the oil and the comp cam additive I did the whole break in procedure I broke it in with the lifters that the cam came with I changed the lifters after the cam was broke in I thought one of the lifters wasn't pumping up so I changed them and the noise didn't change

A thounds I understand if it sounded like a solid lifter cam but it's in one spot at the back not the whole thing
Could be a lifter that's not pumping up. If it persists and you can identify the offending lifter and verify that it's nothing catastrophic like a lobe going flat, you may try fishing the lifter out and giving it a good cleaning before reinstalling.

You may have wiped a lobe and or lifter, then. It's all over the internet everywhere about Comp's piss poor quality these days. I wouldn't use one of their cams or any of their lifters in a Briggs and Stratton. I hope you figure it out and it's something stupid easy.

But if I wiped a lobe it would run like crap right? But it seams to run fine

Ok looks like I'm going to pull the intake thank you I'll let you know what I find
I'm not sure I'd go that far yet. Maybe the valve covers, yes. Then get the rockers on the base circle one by one and see if any are loose. That would tell you maybe if you had a lifter or lobe going out. Easier than the intake and if that's not it, then you've not snatched the intake. Yet.

Lots more knowledgable then me here, BUT before too long I would be putting the lifters back in that you broke cam in with.
Hoping it's something easily rectified.
Good luck.

Get rags ready. Remove valve covers. Make sure you have gloves on; start the engine & let it idle. Put your hand on each rocker & listen for a change in sound. The one that changes in sound is the offender. Engine off, get that rocker so that the valve is closed. If you can push down on the prod end & feel spring tension, it means the lifter has not pumped up. If there is no movement, you could have wiped a lifter or lobe & further investigation is reqd.

My 440 / 500 stroker sounds terrible. Same issue. Running great for 8 years. Now a couple of lifters are spongey so I'm going to just go Solid lifters

Make an imgur account... i use it when i have to post small vids.. really easy to use.

P.S. my cam makes noise also and i know it's fine but it makes me nuts.. to the point that i am wanting to find a set of solid lifters.. if it's gonna make the noise i want to know it's ok :)

I bought a solid roller cam from them last year and within 30 passes it was wiped out along with the new Bam lifters. Plus now everything needs to be gone through.

Yes, solid roller if i find a set for a decent price.. did research on it and supposedly it's not an issue.
 Keep me posted on that. I had a thread way back asking if you could put solid flat tappets with my hydraulic and it was like I asked who makes the best spark plugs.
