Good evening y'all, I have this Chrysler 8 3/4 I have for my tea bucket I took it apart because I thought it was just the passenger side inner seal that was leaking. But when I took it off the bearing that goes around the shaft was loose and the inside of the housing was all fucked up. The pictures that show fluid leaking out is the passenger side and then the side that has none is the driver side. My question to you guys is this rear end fucked and if anybody else had this issue. I don't know s*** about this stuff when it comes to the rear ends and just hoping to get some knowledge from y'all. Also the inner seals were different colors I don't know if that makes any difference but I know the difference between a two-piece seal and a one-piece of course.

I'd get one new bearing and one new seal and see if they are both tight in the registers where they belong
If they are good, fly it.
If they aren't, get a new housing end from Dr Diff, and take it to a rearend shop that does housing narrowing.

They make a lock tight that is designed to be used on worn bearing runs that I have been using on my Kubota Zero turns.
You will still need to have a bit of a press fit but it will hold pretty well.
Follow directions to a T.

This is not the proper fix bit it might get you by with a light weight T Bucket or at least until you find a replacement housing.

Do you know what housing you have?

A, B, C, E? The cost will vary.

with all the pearl clutching that goes on around here about how non-flattened out u-bolts will bend an axle i'm surprised that nobody is calling this thing trash with the beating that end took.

but i digress...

the different colored seals are just different brands. the orange-y one is probably raytech or timken and the green is likely napa (skf), which leads me to believe somebody was in there pooching around because it looks as if there's already some epoxy or some such on the one side.

let's see the rest of the crime scene. how's the axles, bearings and retainers/seal plates look?

Yes, there is a lock tight product for this, and I have used it but never on a vehicle wheel bearing. Too bad you're so far I'd give you a housing before I'd see you use this under any conditions. Housing for an 8 3/4 are cheap do you want to risk killing yourself or another family you run into.

housing is all fucked up? Looks like flange bent and cracked? The inner seal is what keeps the gear oil in. But if flange is cracked thats a safety issue. Either get another housing or have a shop fix the one you have.

Also on axle number one they install the bearing with the non adjustable flange as well as the adjustable flange. The extra flange needs to be removed. That why tha axle play was sloppy. Kim

Isn’t the flange in the pic only covered with some gray RTV residue ?
I’m trying to find some bad damage,,,,but I guess I’m overlooking it ?

Or,,,is it covered with rtv because it’s bent really bad ?

The Op might try to clarify it a little ?

He says housing all fucked up but sort of fuzzy exactly what is all fucked up????

Just buy the 3” ford axle flanges and weld them on. Then you can use cheap aftermarket ford bearings and brake kits instead of paying for the mopar name. I used the Moser ends and a Wilwood ford brake kit. The correct way to weld them on is with a bearing bar inserted completely through the carrier and both bearing housings. If you don’t have the tooling find a 4x4 shop in your area that does differentials.

If you were closer i have an excellent jig that makes the job very easy . Anyone who can weld could make a great job . But you are a half a world away lol .

Tell us more of what you see .

Mee too. My eyes suck!
