Two-time NHRA Top Fuel champion Brittany Force, daughter of legendary driver John Force, set a new speed record for the 74-year-old drag racing series over the weekend in competition at the Northwest Nationals held at Pacific Raceways outside Seattle, reports Drag Illustrated. She pushed her car to a blistering 341.85 miles per hour in the quarter mile to knock Doug Kalitta out of competition in the semi-finals. In doing so she beat her Funny Car classed teammate Austin Prock's previous speed record, a 341.68 mile per hour run during the 2024 season finale. Not only is she the fastest driver in NHRA history, but she has five of the top six fastest passes in the Top Fuel category. This isn't even a competition at this point.

Amazing numbers for sure. However there is No trophy for top speed. It is the crew chiefs and parts budget that are making those cars fast, not the drivers.

The driver can make the run slower, but not faster. Well to be fair to get the most from a run they need to do a proper burnout, shallow stage, keep engine temp right, and keep it in the groove.

I knew some really fast gals back in high school. I bet they wore more hair spray, though.

It was still her *** in the seat when it went 341.68 mph. I know a few crew chiefs in Top Fuel and I’m not aware of any of them that are willing to get in the car.

Again, she didn't make it that fast, the crew chiefs brain and dads money did that.

If she gets in another car she cannot just make it go 341 mph like it's easy She did not make it go that fast. The car did it. Any competent driver could have done that in that car.

Now the car is built for her size and weight so it would need to be the same size paeson. Or change the car weight.

Now a big driver like Matt Hagn can do it but the car is built for his size. Minimum weight, front to back weight, driver compartment, etc.

Ever notice any car Jimmy Prock is involved in it is winning races and championships? He is tops of crew chiefs. That's how Beckman was champion with Schumacher. And how Hight go many championships.

Prock was with force, went to DSR, then force paid huge to get him back. Good Reason for this.

Yes I realize David Grubnic is her crew chief but you know those guys all work towards the same goals.

Lol so you think any driver can jump in a fuel car and make a run. I bet you’d chicken foot an 8 second car. There’s a handful of people in the WORLD that can be competitive in a fuel car, I’m not saying the crew chiefs don’t deserve some credit, I’m contradicting the fact that you think the driver doesn’t.

LOL, so any crew chief could have made it go 341? LOL
I was part of two cars (crew chief on one of them) that set two FIA world records at bonneville. Guess whose name was on the trophy, and who got to go to Europe to the FIA banquet and stand next to Lewis Hamilton holding both trophies? Hint; NOT MINE and NOT ME. The driver deserves the credit.

The car needs a driver for sure. But that driver didn't make it go 341, the car did it. There are a dozen great drivers in Top fuel. Why aren't they all champions? They don't have the car or the money. Why did force racing overpay to get Jimmy Prock back from DSR? A good crew chief is everything.

I don't drive white knuckle cars, never said I did.

Listen to this guy he knows something about it. Watch the whole thing, it's a good show. Pay attention starting at 6:30 and 7:04 is the key sentence.

Yes big Jim is the real deal. Amazing he wants to and can still do it. Listen to what he says about the driver in that video.

That series interviews many top drivers, interesting to hear their stories.

Have you watched the movie Funny Car Summer? Pretty cool footage of Jim and Mike and their travels.

Yes big Jim is the real deal. I’m fortunate to have spent time with both him and Mike. Mike is an incredible human. I wish he’d come back to the announcer booth and work with Brian Lohnes. That duo would be awesome. I have definitely seen Funny Car summer and yes it was pretty damn cool, I should probably see if it’s on YouTube and watch it again, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen it.

Mike Dunn was great as the announcer. He could tell you exactly what was going on. Until he stated "the fix is in". When Force let Hight win to make the countdown. He didn't back down explaining why he said it.

This was slated to be Britt's last year running Top Fuel Dragster, as Courtney was set to take over.
She recently got married and I think she wants to have some Crumbsnatchers.
But Courtney's husband had other ideas and knocked her up. People will tell you it's a coincidence, but I think he just didn't want her racing again.

Kinda disappointed to hear this. Courtney was a fierce Funny Car Driver, and she would have excelled, possibly setting the Top Fuel world on its keister.
And driving is out of the question for Ashley, her TF license has expired as well as her drive to race again.

That was a great moment. An announcer told it the way it really was.
It was so obvious that Force threw the race. If only he knew then, what he knows now...Hight hooking up with a Traxxas Girl, then subsequently divorcing Force's Daughter. :drama:
You guys wonder where Hight went? He didn't leave Funny Car due to health reasons, as stated. Force kicked him out of the family and race Organization.
Mike Dunn was the greatest NHRA announcer to come along since Steve Evans.
They should bring him back into the fold at new IHRA, he knows his stuf!
