Have a 74 duster, 360 and 727 with a column shift, quadajet carb, what is correct linkage to be set up? I have no idea where to start and don’t flame me too bad here. Keep in mind we got this to learn on, any input is appreciated

Is it not acting correctly?

Are you looking to go to a stock setup, or just don't care?

Folks will weigh in... you could also contact Lokar and discuss your setup for a recommendation.

Good luck

I don't like the way that the kickdown cable for the transmission is so high and angled down. Maybe that bracket is not right, it looks to be aftermarket.
I don't know who put the Quadrajet on there, but I would remove that for another carburetor. If not... you may be spending a lot of time on something that might never be right

The carb is definitely going to go, I’m looking at getting a Edelbrook or was looking at a jegs branded one, it just isn’t right, it doesn’t seem like it has no power; and the pedal is very loose and it has a lot of play, just getting some input on where to start

It looks like a Lokar setup?

Don't be concerned about the linkage set up now. Get your replacement carb and then get the linkage right. I don't like the looks of that kickdown.

If the engine came from a truck it could have had a quadajet on factory.
But the whole thing looks kinda “tom foolery.” I cannot speak for how it runs, but a new carb and tune up could be a recommendation for sure. I’d also like to see the other side of that lokar cable. Some of those are being copied by Chy-na. Not the same quality but works I guess.

Edelbrook 650 avs2 or jegs 650 will go to go on a 360?
get the 650 AVS 2.

what you've got there is a cobbled together hot mess.

i'd ditch ALL of that and get factory linkage that you know will be right and you can use the service manual to dial in the adjustment.

you're just starting out and following up some body else's bobo *** work puts you at a disadvantage. if it's stock and you can't figure it out, when you ask for help you can say: is stock. how fix? and somebody will know, vs the whole: it no worky here's a picture of nonsense to which everybody will say: ew. no. or just throw out WASG's until something sticks.

The trans cable that is angled down, it should be entering the area below the factory throttle cable. Not above it.

Go to the lokar site and check out the instructions. What you have will work after getting the kickdown cable mounted properly.

You’ll want one of these for your throttle bracket. The 650 AVS2 will be a great step forward here

Agree with Edebrock 650 AVS 2 for 360 V8 (my Edelbrock 800 is Made in USA. Big plus)
Agree. That Edelbrock 1481 bracket is a must with an Edelbrock Carb.
Still need Chrysler Throttle cable kickdown linkage adapter to install throttle cable and kickdown on 1481.
1481 and Chrysler adapter pictured on Edelbrock 800 cfm AVS2.

Be careful not to drive it without that transmission kickdown cable adjusted and working properly. It doesn’t take long to smoke a transmission without that working.

it is possible to run with the kickdown disconnected. you must however zip tie the lever on the trans to be halfway through it's travel. on these mopar trans' the kickdown lever also controls line pressure in the trans' so as as above the trans' will die within a few miles if fully disconnected. you can fine tune shift points by varying the lever position around that halfway point too.
it's not ideal but will get you mobile and do it without frying the trans'.
neil.

Yes, I would look on here and find one to replace the Lokar type setup. The throttle link adapter puts your carburetor linkage at the correct throttle pedal and kickdown linkage ratio.

If that is a Mopar Rochester it would be post 1974. That would help explain all the rubber plugs in your photo. It should have plenty of power when the secondaries on that Rochester open up. Stand next to the car a give it throttle by hand. Are those big secondaries opening up? When a Quadrajet goes full throttle, you will know it.

Okay. Thank you all for the help. I ordered the New Carb and the adapter and should be here tomorrow, I will post some pics of everything when I get it all installed. I haven’t tried to drive it much, just only on the trailer and off the trailer when I got it. And then once around the block. Hopefully I didn’t smoke the transmission or do damage or something.
