Somethings the site does that I don't agree

I've looked at many darts in my day as I'm sure lots of others have. Some over priced, some fairly and even a few low. That said I recently looked over a 70 swinger that a kid had for sale. Asking $34 k. Canadian funds, so around 28k US. First off he states no fender tag or build sheet. I go look. He's not educated on these cars, knows nothing. Dude he bought it from told him it's all original. After my inspection, I concude it's numbers matching (engine and trans). Has the kelsey hayes frt. disc brakes, (standard on 70 340 swingers), sway bar, coin on k-frame, 8 3/4 rear end. He doesn't know the gear ratio in the rear or if it's a sure grip ? Paint on body was fairly fresh. Looked really nice. Couldn't read the body numbers because of this plus trunk seal was new. Anyway I told him everything I discovered. He was desperate to sell. Probably could have shut up and got the car for mid teen $$$. Instead of berating or taking advantage I chose to pass, not make an offer . Wished him luck and assured him it was what it appeared to be. He thanked me and that was that. Would I have told him the opposite if that was the case ? Yes but not in a way that it I was accusing the seller of fraud. Just make my statement, say its not for me and walk away.

Surprised no one has pointed out the engine color is wrong ? Another tell tail sign ??
Just a little sarcasm. Lol.

Just my thoughts after reading all that posted.

I will say this about removing posts and whatnot. Obviously, not everyone thinks about sending message VIA PM regarding for sale threads. A prefect example is when Princess Valiant tagged me in Vixen's for sale ad here several years ago. Had she not been able to do that, I might have missed that car. It would be a shame if we got to the point where we couldn't even tag someone in a for sale ad on an item or vehicle we knew they might be interested in. Yes, we can send a PM. But again, not everyone thinks of that. Remember, not everyone thinks the same way.

Also, the members without Gold don't get all that much DM count....I don't remember how much more you get with the Gold Membership but it's a good deal more. One perk of being a mod is DM's are a LOT but the DM box gets a LOT of 'communications' with member's problems at times which isn't much of a perk lol.

Does anyone have a picture of this bracket for exhaust protruding through the floor pan in the interior part of the car because I have a 72 340 car and I can't seem to find it

I just cannot conceive any of you could believe a 340 car could come from a manufacture with no right side exhaust hanger .

Ah yes, because on the assembly line 56 years ago you think that if the guy hanging the exhaust realized the bracket wasn’t there his only option would be to send the car back for the bracket?

Or, I dunno, maybe he’d just figure it out and get the car down the line.

And worse that during the restoration they forgot it, Welded up the holes and decided it just didn't need one. and do it so perfect under the car its not noticable.

Again, because there’s only one way to hang an exhaust pipe.

And, you know it’s perfect because you’ve seen the pictures? Or maybe the seller didn’t look that hard? Thought you jumped to the fraud accusation because you hadn’t seen pictures?

Numbers can be removed and welded into a body with no problem. Hiding that hanger removal would be difficult and for what reason

This Demon came here for a front clip. We put the original numbers into the top rad support. Not the whole top piece either. We cut them out neatly and tig welded them in far enough away from the numbers. once the weld was smoothed with a small flap wheel and the car was painted you couldn't tell . They were the original numbers . We could have just replace the whole top cross piece but then you would be able to see the replacement by removing the original spot welds.

Putting numbers on a body if you have the original doner is a breeze. Forgetting the original exhaust hanger would be easy to do also. And once the donor is gone back then your screwed because they didn't sell that hanger separately at the dealer. Many non dual exhaust cars that come here with duals the hanger has no bracket and bolts right to the floor. They are not performance bodies.

So, if you re-body a car and change the numbers over it’s cool, but if someone else does it’s fraud. Got it.

I get a kick out of this, you guys are arguing over molding and exhaust hardware welds on cars that are… fifty years old. When Chrysler had trouble at times building the same car in one vehicle. I’ve seen new Chrysler and Dodges where the exterior and interior trim was different from side to side. The new vehicle was a Dodge on one side and a Chrysler on the other, molding, Badging, Striping and interior door panel.
These things were built by people and **** happens, someone fk’n around or an honest mistake who knows. But you can’t say it never happens.

A lot of years ago a member asked me if I could look at a car that was close to me. He was out of state....so I did, took pics of it. I spoke with the owner a bit but not much was said about the car. The buyer declined to buy the car and the owner contacted me and wanted to know what I told the buyer. My reply was just what I saw and the pics did the rest. He was pissed! Told him that if the guy had spent money to fly down and saw what the pics showed, he would have been pissed and what I said to the buyer didn't make or break the deal. That was the one and only time I looked at a car for someone.

Another time a guy that I know that flipped cars came to look at a Challenger T/A that I bought. Someone tried their hand at building a drag car out of it and didn't succeed. I pulled most of the race stuff off and put the T/A up for sale. The flipper showed up and wanted to buy the car but I still needed to pull a few more race parts off of it. He said no problem but asked if he could take some pics of it. Sure since he put some money down on it. Another member of a different car site sent me a note asking 'is this your T/A' and sent a link. There it was on Ebay!! Well well well. I didn't call the flipper when I was done pulling off the last of the race stuff but he called me saying so and so would be here with the money in a week. Told him to bring his trailer tomorrow or the deal is off. I let him know that I wasn't going to be a go between for him and someone from Ebay.

As time went on, I found out just how shady he was....money ruled him.

Here you go, one still on the car, never been touched in 56 years. The other is in rough shape but you can see both pieces. Sorry just realized you wanted the interior location ( pic)

Here's a couple for you. Lordstown GM assembly plant building Pontiac Sunfire, Chevy Monza, and Olds Starfire back in early 80's. Every now and then, you'd get a car with one brand badging on one side and a different brand badging on the other. Wonder how that went when/if they got to the dealer?

:poke:Or here's a better one. Caught a few cars with wheels missing the valvestem. How? Well, the valvestem inserter machine was not error proofed and if the hole wasn't there in the wheel (misbuild from the supplier), the valvestem just went on the floor. Inflation is done around the rim so the valvestem is not needed for that. So a car is built with a wheel without a valvestem. Some got caught before shipping but I always wondered what happened if a guy/gal went to add air later to his tire and couldn't find the valvestem?! Would have been a great Alan Funt/Candid Camera stunt!!

Technology at its best. Love it.

Maybe the brackets are there I can see something underneath but nothing on top

FIL had a Dodge Aspen wagon with Aspen on one side and Volare on the other. The valve stem 'delete' option is a new one to me LOL

Well i think locking threads is bad unless people are literally mthrfking each other.

Locking it outside of that just comes off like censorship and is simply silencing people's voices. We should be able to talk about what ever we want related to the thread title and intension.

No one is banned by accident and threads don't accidentally get locked either..so yep you change people's view of you when you move with an iron fist and shouldn't be surprised one bit. It's easier to be a member than being a moderator because if you don't be careful with how you handle things you will be hated pretty quick.

Accountability is a two-way street...and integrity is everything to harbor respect.. and everyone isn't the same either.. seniority matters imo.

Nuff said from me. I think I've made my point.

It's not that at all about the hardware, trim, weld whatever.

It's the accusation of the selling lot being a fraudster. They very well could be on other stuff as they love to "Puff". Calling them such based on poor conclusions and assumptions (non std trim missing and exh hardware gone) is a HUGE miss and libelous.

Speaks right to posters accountability and character. Put down the shovel, step away from the hole.
