Just got invited to a barrel pick at a distillery in Wisconsin. It is through the Iowa whisky club and Starks, the store we visited last Thursday. Going to a distillery is big for us. We have done a dozen or so picks but just sampling 3 or 4 different samples the distillery sends. Sometimes the best you try still isn't all that good. At the distillery, if they pull 3 or 4 barrels and no one likes those they will get more.

Sounds like a fun trip.

Which distillery?

Last time I had anything with alcohol was when toolman brought a sample to Carlise. After the last few days on here I think I need to hit the state store and grab a few 5ths of something any suggestions.

My ol' buddy Barney. Damn, I wish you were closer. I still have a sip or two in those old dusty bottles you sent me a few years back.

Do you like Bourbon or Rye? Trying to think of something that you can get there as well. The cashiers at the stores are pretty knowledgeable as to what is good.

Enjoy this trip, I have been pulling of the new stand by here in Arkansas, found that I love Buffalo Trace , I might have one glass with 3 cubs of ice and 2 1/2 shots in it, I haven't had one in a few days, It may be time after my home made chicken salad sandwich..
You guys have a nice evening.

I have many favorites but most are barrel picks that are specific. You know what, Jim Beam 7 year has been a tasty shelf bottle laterly. Nice enough to sip neat if you wish or great with some ice, water, Ginger Ale or lemon lime soda.

Sorry Mike I had to handle an issue.
Now really need a drink. When I did drink it was mostly scotch and water I haven't had that in I'm guessing over 40 years, we're did the time go.
I ll pick up a bottle tomorrow and give it a try, much appreciated.

We did a sampling las t Saturday. 3 different bottles of Glenmorange. (-Scotch) the 12 year was by far the best.

Taking it real easy tonight. Just a sip or two of Starlight Cognac finish. Not to complex but pretty good.

I think they still make it using the traditional process, but with super high alcohol tolerant yeast. They've been making it for quite a while. I've got the 2019 version but have been too much of a puss to give it a try. This one's "only" 28% ABV.

It's Friday night. What's in your glass? I am starting out with a delicious Rye. A Minor Case Barrel Pick. It is a 51% rye, 45% corn, and 4% malted barley MGP Rye. Sweet, mild rye spice with a hint of root beer mid to late palate. Smooth and creamy mouth feel with a medium long finish.
