Been working on my RM dash, with painted frame, fresh pad, etc. Thought I'd share some pics. It's looking a little naked without a stereo in that hole :)

Very nice. I can't wait till I get to get my dash ready for the gauges.

I heard that glove box is a PIA... if you had to do it over again would u go w/the golve box delete? Also what part # is that paint? That's the same color I want to pain mine.

Jason

That is beautiful. In looking at the last pictue, a straight on shot, the gauges look like they could be partially obscured. How does it look when you are actually closer to it?

How much was is it? I've been thinking of getting one just like that one.

DAMN... that's NICE!!!!!!!!!!

I came *this close* to buying one for my car until I added up the gauges. Not this go-around. The dash itself is about $300. Then stuff it with some good gauges (and related sending units and sensors...) and your looking at $600-700 total.

But wow... that is some nice stuff! 8)

John...Better look again... that dash w/o the glove compartment door is $647.00 now. Glad I got mine before the price went up.

$647.00

If you want the glove compartment add $80.00.

1970-1976

Price: $80.00

the dash is closer to 600 it's self... think is $560 to be exact.. then add another 800 for guages...

that looks great!

I have a similar one on order without radio/heater or glove box and I'll be painting mine black. I ordered MSD Lazer Gauges for mine. Yours looks great. Mine should arrive any day.

I'm psych'd

Thanks guys. To answer some questions...

USCG: Yes, the GB is a bit of a pain. It definitely adds time to the fitting process to get it to look and work decently. If I had to do it again I would probably go with a GB delete. However, I do feel it helps balance the look of the dash out. Without it I feel it would look naked over there. the only code I have for the paint is 92P - which I think is kind of a generic silver. It's a Lesonal (Akzo-Nobel) base. I have a friend who runs a paint store and I basically walked in, looked at a chip chart of silvers and picked one out. It had a very, very light metallic to it (didn't want the flakes jumping out at you) and then I cleared it with a semi-gloss clear.

Clhyer: That's just the angle of the picture. I shot it a little high to try and catch a little more of the top of the dash. Seated in the car the view is from a lower angle.

Blackace: That thing was $475 and that was before his price increase at the start of '07.

Which brings me to Fastback 340: Thanks. You probably made the right choice. In the end the damages were more like $1200+ for dash and gauges - and that was before I had the pad restored! Uhg.

Do you have a close up of what guages u acutally have in there.. fuel , temp, rmp. etc.. and what brand?

Just the basics: Fuel, Temp, Tach, Speedo, Oil, and Volts. They're 3/4 sweep Autometer Sport Comp II's. I love the LED backlighting of these gauges.

It's like Christmas again today. (I'll call it a belated b-day present since my b-day was yesterday :) ) Shifter showed up along with some other goodies. Boy, it's a nice looking piece in person.

Man that looks sweet!

We must have the same taste because I was looking at those same exact gauges not to long ago. I also was thinking of putting the same shifter in. But recently decided to go with a different one.

Can you post a picture of the back? Did you have to do any cutting of the existing dash, to make additional room for the radio maybe? That thing is so sweet...

Here's the back before the factory harness goes back in. Defrost ducts and speakers (dual 3.5") are not in place yet either.

Yes, I had to cut the frame to make room for the two left gauges in this pic. The heater controls are also in a slightly different spot and, of course, the radio which is a standard DIN sized opening.

I think all RMD's require cutting of the frame except for the cluster only inserts.

I was just a little bit off on my estimate, huh? WAAAAY back when I priced it I think it was closer to $400 now that I think about it. But man-o-man... that's one great looking dash.

Feels great to blow through cash for neat stuff, don't it? My friends tease me about my "Deep Pockets" (I wish... I'm just broke) project. Your pockets must go into the basement....
