Hey muller. Is this a strip only or street / strip car? What make, model, year of vehicle will it be in? Vehicle weight? Tranny? Rear gears? Tires? It looks like it would be a potent engine in the right vehicle, with all of the drivetrain properly matched up to it.

make sure you have proper top ring gap to run nos 0.22 good choice 2nd ring can have tighter chearances, also make sure car gets minimum 8 psi fuel pressure using the nos. and for every 50 nos shot, retart timing 2 degrees, wise to run it a tad on the rich side also.

it's in a '75 dart sport,street/strip,8 point cage,frame connectors,drag shocks front & rear,727 with a 3500 stall,slapper bars and 275 50 15 bfg dragradials....gears i don't know yet....i think i'll go for a new set 410:1

that's what i did,and i put molley top rings in it and cast as a second ring
for the nos i'm gonna buy a second pump,so i can run more nos (more fuelpressure than the carb needs)
and for the timing retard...that's why i went for the digital 6

I'm with bigger primary header tubes. Since it is a drag car, 3 inch exhaust pipe.

careful with the digital six. I know a lot of guys that run them and have had the boxes go out. It seems very common with msd stuff.

i used to have a lot of wheel hob, after i put the slapperbars on that was gone,so i think i'll leave them on...or upgrade to caltracks

Well........ The 4:10 ratio would be my choice, Bar. And the cal-tracs are good too. My guess is high 10's because you lightened up the car and made it a lot stiffer. That's if you can get the traction. The cal-tracs will help it a lot. I'm an old school guy that has used SS springs and a pinion snubber with very good results in the past for street/strip applications. I don't know how the cal-tracs are on the street. What does your car weigh? my guess is 3300 lbs. if you take all of the beer cans out of the back! lol ....... You really need a 8 3/4, 489 case and mini tubs to get traction too as well as reliability. All this stuff can be transferred to your '72 swinger when you sort it out and you will be ahead of the game. Maybe you can phone our friend in Calgary and you can get this stuff for free, he obviously has contacts, lol.....and the favour would be returned. :evil4:

hi 10s using the 250 shot of nos maybe, your heads are crap, your cam is too small,

I am assuming KB hypereutectic pistons. KB has very specific requirements for ring end gap. With NOS you will need upwards of 0.030" of gap, with out the NOS it is about 0.024". Violate this and you will be rebuilding the engine again soon becasue of broken pistons. Whether they are moly coated or not is not the issue, it's the end gap. KB postions the rings closer to the top of the piston so they run hotter and need the additional gap. When the are up to temperature the gap is the same as other pistons.

Also, hypereutectic pistons are not the best choice when running NOS. I would limit the NOS to a 100 shot. But of course if you have forged KB pistons this is not an issues.

I am in agrement too...headers are too small. 1 3/4" minimum. 1 5/8" are restrictive. costing you about 7% H.P. Good luck, Terry.
