It looks like Vic Hubbard's Speed Shop (in Hayward, CA) will be kicking off their monthly summer "Midnight Madness Sale" & Car Show beginning June 19th (between 6pm and midnight). It will continue every third Thursday of the month through September. So ... June 19th, July 17th, August 21st & September 18th. If you need to buy new stuff, why not support your local speed shop. On these nights, they will match the likes of Summit & Jegs (and other competitors) and there will be no sales tax. I bought a set of Eddies at the last show/sale and a couple of Melling HV pumps and felt pretty good about giving them my business. Also, it should be fun meeting up with the local FABO members as well.

thanks for letting us know! i'll be there. good folks in there.

If possible, why don't we plan on meeting up somewhere beforehand to grab a bite to eat (because as you know, I am all about the food ;-) and then head over. Or, we could park and then walk somewhere (although I am not sure what's good in that area).

Thanks for letting everybody know .
Vic hubbards has been around awhile .
I'm all about supporting local businesses.
Seen too many speed/machine shops go under in recent years.

There's an Applebee's one exit away. Not too tough on the budget...something like this ok? Reduce map to size 3 on W Winton Ave.

Wasn't Vic Hubbards in Vallejo years ago?

they have been in the "new" building since 1976, Vic Hubbards was founded in 1949. the Fremont store was "Vic Hubbard Auto Parts" they also sold speed parts, but had nothing compared to the Hayward store. the main benefit was that they could get anything you wanted from the Hayward store.
this was handy since the most of the other south bay speed shopswere gone by then. The huge building behind the Hayward store is actually "Speed Warehouse" which is thier wholesale business that supplies most of the speed parts to auto parts stores and smaller speed shops.

We use to hit that shop on the way to the drags at Fremont. If my memory serves me right it was just off the Bay Shore fwy. When Sears point opened it was just down from Vallejo so after that didn't have much time in getting down that way. I do rememeber that when tunnel rams were hot they had a small block chev on the floor with one and all the other cool speed stuff of the day.

I'm open to either one of these places. I guess we still have 3+ weeks to figure it out. :-D

Three weeks has turned into 3 days. I believe Thrashard and redfastback & I are going to Rob's Machine (in Hayward) first and then to Applebees for early dinner and then over to Vic Hubbards. Thrash & red, do you want to throw out some times to meet at Rob's and then Applebees so if others want to join us, they know where to meet us & when? I was thinking Rob's at around 3:30pm and then Applebees at around 4:30pm. Let me know what you guys think. I am flexible since I can get to Rob's earlier and take care of businees.

well i did a search for applebees and robs is basically at industrial/tennyson and we can shoot from there right up hesperian blvd to w. winton to applebees that is right at the southland mall. from there we can go back to hesperian and go up to A st. and go right to vics. we will have to go under the freeway and do a u turn though, not a big deal.

here is the link to google maps for robs to applebees.

i hope the links work.

Red, the links didn't work but we can follow you. Do the times sound ok? I was going to bring the Dart but I think I will be hauling some parts to Rob's Machine so I will be in the Ram.

I don't want to string you guys along any further. It doesn't look like I will make it out of work early. I will meet you guys at VH around 06:30PM.

Thrashard, no worries. We can meet at Rob's Machine another day. We'll see you at Vics. If you want to see where we are at, feel free to give me a call on my cell.

I was Hubbard's today (actually early eve ... they almost locked me in). ;-) I saw a poster on their door for the monthly downtown Hayward event as well (same night). Last year, we went to it and then drove over to Hubbards. The downtown event is actually very nice. I wouldn't spending more time at it.

If anyone is interested in joining us tomorrow night, chime in or PM me. I think we may just do the downtown Hayward car show but taking a spin by Hubbards is not totally out of the question.
