Question about a edelbrock rpm on a 383 with 906's

I have the thing mounted on the engine now but there is a opening about in the middle of the heads on each side that the intake does not cover. It looks like a closed off cavity but it just seems to me it should covered?? The other question is I noticed that the stock intake has ports for antifreeze to flow through it but the valley pan on the eddy blocks off the flow through the intake. I know these are silly questions but just makin sure
 
No big blocks have coolant circulating through the intake. The opening you're talking about is from the heat crossover. It's supposed to look like that. You did use the valley pan that blocks off the heat crossover didn't you? Would be a shame to throw away some horsepower.

Yea Dusterdon Jim came over to my place yesterday and we got everything figured out, no problems.
