That thing rules! D/Darts are really cool little screamers, the unsung factory race cars. 12.92 is great for 1966 technology.

Hey dude where did you get your Hood? Can I see a closer Pic of it?

not knowing your cam specs ,the 1966 D dart used thorley headers in most cases, a few had factory cast iron headers, cam was a solid .513 I believe 4 speed, 8 3/4 rear with 4.80 gear. I passed on an original 66 D dart for 100 bucks in the early 80s .50 made. old man owned it and worked at a convenience store and asked if I wanted to buy it for 100 bux. he kept saying this is not a dodge dart ,this is special, its a DODGE -D dart, I was a young buck and didnt know any better so I would tell him to let me test drive it just to row thru the console 4 speed. wouldnt do much over 100mph but it got there fast. my day is now ruined, lol

Saw this image on Mopar Max the other day.

J/SA is currently a 12.75 index which would be low 12s/high 11s with 273 power.

Looks very well done.

As stated in the Stock Eliminator thread - HOLY CRAP!! Just an awesome-looking machine.

Can't wait to find out the time slips for this thing.

74 6273 J/SA Angela Bushmaker, Auburn WA, '65 Valiant 14.011 12.75 1.261 results of the AZ race.

D-Darts were production vehicles with no warranty. They weighed in at
2946# and included quite a list of perf. parts for a factory vehicle including the following:
Camcraft 284-495/500 camshaft with Racer brown valve springs
modified stock intake with a model 4160 Holley carb
Doug headers (not Doug Thorley)
Weber clutch, Hurst shifted 833-4spd.
4.86 gear in a 8-3/4 shure grip

1966 Car Craft magazine track tested the D-Dart: 14.33@92.21mph
I'm sure that with todays technology that same combination of parts
could be tweaked to low to mid 13's. toolmanmike

I've been following their results. They usually run better than that, mostly low 12's, like 12.1x or 12.2x. I thought I actually saw that they had run under 12 once.

I've been told that her dad is a long-time stock racer trying to get her in the sport. Very cool.

More results found on the internets:

25 6273 J/SA Angela Bushmaker, Auburn WA, '65 Valiant 11.760
36 6273 J/SA Angela Bushmaker, Auburn WA, '65 Valiant 12.299
85 6273 J/SA Angela Bushmaker, Auburn WA, '65 Valiant 12.349

Looks like low 12's normally, some clunkers like the 14.01, but 11.76 is astounding.

Buddy of mine just got back from Pacific and said Angela ran a best of 11:99 this weekend

Awesome! They have that car running pretty well.

I'm sure dad has a lot of input into that car. Angela is about 20 or 21 so she has a great career ahead of her. Dad is a pretty cool guy. I got a mechanical SW Tach and cable from dad which my buddy brought back for me to use on the Dart.

So dart4forte - I guess you know these guys a little? They sound like a very cool family. Hope I can build a stocker for my boy one day!

Would like to see more images of the car if possible or at least hear more about it if you have the info.

I've got some virgin 273 stuff if anyone is thinking along these lines. Blocks, heads, I think I even have a 4bbl intake.

I thought these pictues were cool. If the folks here start making some noise, there's gonna be some pissed-off 283 Nova racers!

On the other hand, anyone know where I can find a Valiant or Dart wagon? The 106" wheelbase with the overhang should make a kick butt race car..................
