what do you think is the best stance for a 71 duster?

ever since i got my duster i've been contemplating which stance id like to go with the car; either a low stance with bigger wheels more for cruising or more dragster look with m/t drag radials?

I like a little rake and very wide tires in the back. Muscular looking.
 
Just my opinion but you asked for it. I don`t like the big wheel, short sidewall, look on these cars at all. I say save it for the modern sports cars. I think these cars look their best with tire and rim sizes close to what would have been available in their era. I like a car to sit just a little higher in the back than the front. The Sox and Martin car looks killer, I think that car was at Carlisle last week.

X2. Not a stinkbug air shock rake but just enough to let the more than the casual observer know your duster means business. X2 on the wider rears too. IIRC, 275's can be stuck out back without spring relocation.

Like longgone says, I'm not big on the "Foose Wheel" look either, but I think 16's would look right if done well. Personally, and this is my opinion, if someone made aluminum wheels that look like steels and were 8" wide for the rear and 7" for the front and dog dishes could be put on, I'd buy 'em. Kind of a sleeper/stealth thing. Stock look, better tire availibility and less unsprung weight.

Maybe black weldstars would work too, but I'd have to run raised white letter tires for that 70's look.
 
agree with above...dont like the big wheels ...no sidewalls..

like 15 inch wheels...wider and talling tires in rear for a rake look like the car is going to pounce.......

Got to have some sidewalls! No less than 50 series. 8)
 
i like the first picture with the primer duster,but maybe with 15s or 16s
 
I personally like a couple styles. I like a slight rake with big meats on the back, but I also like the cruiser style like this:

The single dumbest thing you can do to your tires/wheels though is use centerlines in my opinion. They're just UGLY. Get something that will stand out, like Torq-Lites or another uncommon style.

However, I do like the large meats out the back no matter what. Even if you have a 40 series tires, you have to go at least 9" wide tires in the back.
 
15" Steel or Rallye wheels.
60 series tire, white letter out.
Plymouth division dog dish caps on the steelies. Steelies painted gloss black or body color.
Stock leaf springs, level car, no rake.
 
i say sidewalls! big and littles are always a good look but keep in mind keeping the weight over the rear will not only be better for the straight line stuff but also in the twisties too.
 
It may just be me, but on the Dusters/Demons it seems that from the side the rear tire/wheel almost always looks too tiny. I say get rear tires/wheels as big as you can to fill those rear wheelhouses both horizontally and vertically. I also think a good stance would be one where the rear is higher than the front, but the front is very low (if you understand what I'm trying to say). As in, lower the front from stock height instead of raising the rear from stock height. I'll be doing this soon with my '70 Duster and I'll post pics of how it looks.
 
I think on an A, a 16in is as big as I would go ,50 sidewall looks nice, nice and fat in back with a level but low car
 
sounds good to me with a lil rake and fat meat out back. what wheels would look good on a curious yellow duster?
 
i have never caught on to the low stance of a duster with big wheels cuz it looks more for a camaro/ford but i wanted to you know your opinions. what is also the biggest tire (tall and wide) you can fit in the rear if i move the wheel wells and springs?
 
i like them low. looking like they are ready to carve some corners...

I vote for sidewalls too. Hate the look of the newer low profile rims on older muscle cars. I hope this fad will pass soon. I remember in the 80's when it seemed like every charger had slot mags and every challenger had centerlines. Now they just seem dated after those fads passed. Can't beat the old school look in my opinion.

a stock duster or demon look with a 2 or so inch lift on the back. shackled up with 275/60/14s. mmmmmmhmmm
