Hey guys, found this webpage this afternoon. What an awesome forum, tonnes of information. I've been reading it all afternoon and couldn't stop. So many nice Mopars here too!

I thought I'd throw up some pics of my 1969 VF Valiant Station wagon. It's fairly tidy and I currently use it as a daily driver, it's something different and has character I think. It's a 225 Slant, 3 speed column auto, 2:92 diff, four wheel unassisted drum brakes. As you can see it's certainly no performance machine but it's a work in progress.

Thanks guys

Got a question guys.

My next port of call for this project is brake and suspension.

Looking at swapping out the front brakes for something that actually stops the car. I have large rims so clearance is no issue, was looking at something like these large Wilwood sets.

Are these a good option? How much of a 'bolt on' modification are they? They seem fairly well priced (even for USD) and if I can get them shipped to Australia I think they could very well be a great addition.

All ideas appreciated, thanks guys

I must have one of them thar wagons ya got over / under there very kewl indeed, heres mine

Imagine an Aussie Dart wagon converted to LHD w/ a GTS hood, the formula "S" dash from a Barracuda, and the rest of a '69 Dart clip on it. Some Kelsey-Hayes rims or Torque-Thrusts (16 or 17 inchers), a nice color combo, and a few other touches....ummm, good!

NO way, I'd leave that car just as it is. That thing is AWESOME!!!!!! I would not put any other body parts on that. You never see a car like that over here.

That's a wagon I could drive. Wewlcome to the site. On the brakes, I would think you could get Wilwoods cheaper from Jegs or Summit. Oh and we need more pics of the car.

Dart front clip? Chrysler Australia's already got the job half done...here's a VE VIP Wagon (not mine, borrowed the pic from a local Aussie forum, cheers to the owner)

LOL Ok Waggin, just to tantalise you some more here's your car's Australian 4 door cousin, 65 Valiant AP6 Safari Wagon. I knew the previous owner of this car, it was an immaculate resto (with a 360 in place of the factory 273).

I REALLY want a set of those Rear Window Blinds for my '65 Dart Wagon!!!
For that matter; I REALLY want an Aussie '69 Dart Wagon too.
Only problem is I would havta fight Waggin for it. LOL

Later,
Bruce B.

PS: Wouldn't the '73 up A-body discs work on your A-bodies like ours?
Even with shipping it should be cheaper than aftermarket I would think.
Hell, I'll trade you my set-up for one of those 265 ci 6-pak Hemi's...lol.

PSS: I tried to drive a guys Aussie Ute once many years ago.
Conclusion; I felt like a total idiot trying to shift left handed!

Hey Gooon, just to get an idea- how hard is it to find a decent wagon of your vintage in Aussieland? What is the price range? Unless I inherit a ton of money or some such I'll probably never get my hands on one, but some of the others on here just might...

In Goon's absence I can give you an idea - I've been keeping my eye on the market here as it's been a long held desire to have a Safari Wagon to cruise the beaches in. I reckon up to $12,000 AUD would get you a wagon in excellent condition, original or restored. The Green Wagon above, which is show condition perfection, was selling here for $17,000. Since the US led financial crash, the Australian dollar has plummeted from almost parity with the US dollar to be worth .70 cents - you can do the maths.

Here's a link to a 68 Safari Wagon (Torquiose and white, my fav. colour combo) selling now on ebay australia. My rough guess is it will sell for no more than $8,000 AUD.

How Many Hemi's can ya fit in the back o one of them things?!

Ha jk. I love the wagons just how they are too! So unique. Its like an Asian fetish, completely different taste...

Just finished searching ebay-Austailia!

VERY INTERESTING!!!
I think I have figured out a minor Aussie mopar detail: AP5 is '65 Valiants, and AP6 is '66 Valiants....right?

Maybe some of us early A wagon owners could go in together to get a few sets shipped back to the US. I've picked up the rear wind deflectors and a set of AP6 wagon taillight bezels (still need the lens)

I've got a RHD 95 Jeep Cherokee; it's definitely easy to drive with an automatic

Sounds logical but not so. AP5's were 1963 to 1965, AP6's were 1965-1966, I believe.

Those blinds are easily bought here new on Ebay for $180aus. Should be able to get em over there for close to the $180US mark i think.

Mad Max's red station waggon in the first Road Warrior movie looked very simular to that. Are they same car? Just watched it on TMC last night when I was channel surfing lol.
