Where did you get the hood treatment decal ?

Tough to install ?

Secrets ?

http://www.metrodecals.com/store/ht...Sheets-5/Matte-Flat-Black-Vinyl-92/index.html

I bought a 4 x 6 piece, 29 bucks plus shipping (after spending over a hundred on flat blacks) I can't over-emphasize how good it looks. if I were to go on up across the cowl, that would be a challenge but with a heat gun and patience, who knows. What's cool is it can't hurt to try since it's inexpensive and can't harm paint, etc. This is Avery vinyl and is good stuff. I took the hood (fiberglass) into the house and laid it across the kitchen table. Lotsa water, laid one half at a time, heat gun on the contours. It has to be spotless as anything under the decal will show (I have one speck of something in one spot). Most tedious is trimming - but remember I had already tried paint so I simply trimmed the decal a 16th or less just inside the paint lines - you may be able to pre-cut, but it'd be tough as it's wider at the back than the front AND you have to deal with the raised ridges on the hood. I did it by myself which was real stressfull. Quayludes may take the edge off, dunno ;) I'll take some closer shots later and add to the post. The sheen is exactly what I wanted, maybe not factory correct but works fer me. Oh yeah, if wax or oils get on it, no big deal, wipe off with any cleaner.

Very nice looking car, enjoy the summer, I doubt you will have any trouble selling it...

Three shots from a drive tonight - you can see the sheen to the decal real well. Interior not quite done, temporary seats. Did the white gauge thing and replaced all woodgarain on dash and doors with a carbon fiber decal from the same source as the hood. Thanks for all the kind words. Also attached a pic of my last resto - 67 273 HiPo 4 speed car - sold it not long after completing as well. I actually enjoy (most of) the restoration proect, when they're done, it gets kinda boring. I'll never be a lawn chair, time-out doll car show guy, if I'm there I'm in the swap meet area !

You did a super job. I had also finished two cars, and sold them after running them for a short while. I'm close to finishing another one, and I'm already looking at Craigs List. I guess it keeps me sane, (I think??). Howard

Mate, you exhibit bloody good taste with your projects! Nothing over the top to suit the flavour of the month in the hobby, and obviously very good craftsmanship.

That's me - don't watch much TV, don't read much, gotta keep moving or I go nuts. That's why I live in the sunny south - rarely a day when I can't be outdoors and/or in the garage. And yes, Craigslist is an addiction, no doubt.

Its all coming back now.

You were building this car,I was building mine, and then there was the other green Dart the young man(he got in trouble) and his dad were building.
All three of us building green Darts at the same time. Basically just finished building my car as well. Heres a couple pics.

Johnny Dart, I was thinking the same thing, weren`t they all gold to start with?

Fantastic work rebeldart, your Dart turned out beautiful! My girlfriend keeps telling me that I need to start another car. I think thats her nice way of saying "get out of the house". Lol!

Would you believe my wife said I can't start on the 70 car yet because I need to get the freezer stocked with fish ? Not many women out there like that - "can't restore another car right now, we need you to go fishing more!". Maybe that's why I've been with her 24 years next week ! What if I paint the bass boat Go Mango and put a bumblebee stripe on it , hmmmm..............

JohhnyD - your car looks great, and Moparteen is back on track according to the last post I read from him : http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?p=564178#post564178

It looks like you used an hvlp turbine system to spray the paint. If so what make do you have? im thinking about going that way for my paint work.

Nope - buddy's booth (garage conversion), 60 gal compressor , Sata gun , Dupont Nason (never again, 5-6 coats to get coverage) Transtar Euro clear, nothing special. Like has been said over and over - guide coat, block, prime, guide coat, block, prime, repeat as necessary - it's all in the prep.

Holy crow that's nice. That's the new Charger sublime, right ? Awesome car, and the 67 you did was nice as well, no shortcuts on either, razor straight and attention to detail. If you do decide to sell later on, send me a PM - I got "connections" and you won't have a problem moving a quality ride like that. I didn't even notice it was a 73 till you mentioned no vent windows -

What make wheels and what sizes did you use on the car?

Billet Specialties GTX series. 16 x 8, 5.25 backspace all around. 255 50 16 tires all around. Front must have tubular control arms and stick on weights, slight rolling of the fender lip. Rear, must have small spring relo kit (3/4), and lips must be slightly trimmed. These were GmachineDartGT's before he went with the 18's he runs now.

The wheels look real good, big enough to help with handling yet still small enough to keep the period look. Very nice!
