I Bought My 67 Fb Without A Windshield. I Bought A New Windshield From A Auto Glass Dealer. I Bought A Gasket From Year One. They Said That I Could Not Get A 67 Gasket But A 68 Would Work If I Did Not Use Trim. I Am Going To Have A Glass Co Put It In. Do I Have Everything I Need To Install It? If Not What Else Would I Need?
I Don't Want Them To Drive 30 Miles And Find Out That I Need Something Else. Thanks Stan

OK a professional glass installer should have the butyl sealant and such but I dont know if you might buy it for less than his price.
If you do use the 68 gasket but dont install the clips for the stainless reveal mouldings you wont have any. The clips can't be installed after the gasket is in place.
The 67 gasket uses a chrome looking lock cord and little stainless corner pieces. Those cant be added to the 68 gasket.
If I didnt have the 68 up stainless for it I certainly would be ordering and installing the new clips now. That reveal moulding can come from any a body from 68 to 76.
Just to be on the safe side, measure the A-pillar heigth of the new glass, compare the gasket to the glass, and the car. 4 door pieces are about 2 inches taller than 2 door. Easy enough to trim those 2 pieces of moulding if needed. Main thing is make sure vendors sold you the correct parts before the installer arrives. I hope alll this helps.

If you decide to use the '68-up stainless mouldings, you'll need to mount the retaining clips before installing the windshield. The trick is mounting them in the correct spot. You'll either need a real good batch of photos with measurements or a donor car that you can refer to for exact locations of the clips before you start drilling holes. If your windshield installer has been around a while, he should have the clips or at least know where to get them. If not, they're available from many fastener companies online and at car shows/swap meets.

Can anybody post a pic or a diagram and provide exact measurements where holes need to be drilled in order to install the '68 and up reveal moulding retaining clips?

Thanks,
Rob

I can get clip locations off my 68 notch this evening. ebay, rtspecialties and others have the clips.
One more thing you should know. When these clips are not covered by mouldings , fairly sharp edges are exposed. They can eat up a wash cloth and possisbley cut a finger.

Redfish, You are always so right on when it comes to windshields!
Stan, Here is a pic of the clips. They can usually be found at any place that mixes paint and has paint & body supplies. Also can get at NAPA, etc..
I am now in the middle of a fight with my insurance company about the wifes windshield on her 67 Dart. As far as the 67 Dart 4 door, EVERYTHING about the front windshield is year specific and I assume it is the same for the 67 Barracuda. Prior to 67 they had gasket and chrome plastic "D" shaped lockstrip.
67 had gasket, lockstrip shaped like an "F" chrome plastic (now comes in back too. The chrome corners are on Ebay for $16.95 each and is the only place I found them. The ONLY place I know of that has the right lock strip (NOS) is Stephens Mopar, $225.00 + shipping (That's why it's been 6 weeks to replace windshield, INS Co. didn't want to pay for lockstrip) Have only found just a handful of places that had the windshield "DW 691" I have found them in both clear and tinted, you'll pay more for clear. Have heard of a "ZIP" gasket that uses it's own "flap" to fold over & loack it self, haven't seen one and I did not order one. I have only found 2 gaskets for 67. Precision has a prototype sent to corporate for testing and going onto production. The otherone (NOS) that I found, my glass shop better have purchased friday or I'll be waiting for a couple of months for prcision to start production.
I have heard you can use 68/69 gaskets without the reveal molding but would have gap between gasket and auto body. All the lockstrip style gaskets have a little space between gasket and body. It was explained to me it just wouldn't look as clean.
If you go with the reveil moldings 68 & up with clips, Good luck alot of work, if the car didn't have them before. The proper 67 parts were extremly hard to locate took me 3 weeks, 5 days a week, 10 hour days, on phone and internet to find. Good Luck!:happy7:

Thanks for all the information. I already got the 68 gasket from year one so I guess I will go that route and get the clips. It's all very confusing but I'm more concerened with getting a windshield that dose not leak than being correct for the year.

Assuming there is no glass or gasket on the car now...
There are 2 little ears stamped out of the cowl . Those go into slots on the bottom of any gasket. While we shouldn't bend theose ears back down we do need to close the holes in the cowl they created. 2 pieces of any thin sheetmetal ( 1'X2" ) bent like a L will increase the thickness of the ear, which is not a problem, and cover those holes. Two 1/8" pop rivets each and done. The butyl sealant will seal the crack and pop rivets.
All we did here was provide a base for the sealnat to bond to like the rest of the fence. Prevents tomarrows possible leaks now.

I hear ya Stan! I was just trying to find orig style due to insurance being involved with our car. Also I'm too lazy to find reveal moldings and install clips! LOL!!
I have some photos of me doing this project on my 64 if you like I can post, but it is of my back windshield but they are still alike. But it basically would show clips approx 1-2" from corners, in centers of horizontal lenghts and vertical lenghts. The longer horizontal run would also have a few extra clips approx 4" from others. Service Manual does not show. I wish I had drawing for you. The only other thing with the clips, they don't just "bottom" out against the fence. They kind of set up a bit to clear some of the gasket and still catch and hold firm the metal reveal molding. I hope this helps. Before I finally found parts for our car I could not make up my mind about reveal moldings or not? sense the 68/69 supposedly can be ran without clips and molding? but I thought I would still have to run the "D" shaped lockstrip.
I'm sure someone on this site has more info than me, but Good Luck!

Here is my little tip for you that I got from a bodyman in the business for many years.I changed my 67 to 68 trim the same as you are doing and here is what he suggested.Get some 2 inch masking tape and tape the moldings flush with the body with the clips installed with the proper spacing and then drill your holes. It worked out awesome and my trim looks like it was installed at the factory.Hope this helps.JEDS67

This will give you the layout for the clips. If you have time you need to check out the rest of Jeffs site. It is definitely a valuable resource. http://jefframin.org/library/windshieldClips.gif

I'd like to thank you for posting that link. I've got similar drawings for the back windows. I was gonna create one for the front using my car as sample.
Fighting the flu now :(
FABO rocks !
