The Dart got hit!!!

My machinist messed up one of the cam bearings when someone in the shop distracted him so he ordered a new set and will get it back to me asap. I told him no big deal and to take his time. (he is pretty cool and cuts me deals all the time) I am going to go pick up the new slant (hyd. truck motor with a rebuilt head) I got for 300 bucks from the owner of the shop and just drop it in the 66 as is with no detail (painted black and will have a red one bbl on it) just to get her running and once I get the other block back I will throw in the new cam, rebuilt 2 bbl, detail the living hell out of it and Nikki and I will swap motors one day after work.

If all goes right I should have a motor in the 66 by Tuesday before I drive to Vegas (work not play) on Wednesday.

Sure! LOL Kinda like Frankenmutt! All my buddies are scared of him. In fact right now he is scarring Nikkis best friends dumbass gay husband. This guy is a f**king slimeball that works for Expedia because he gets to be totally fake to people over the phone but when you confront him he curls up in a ball and cries. He is a little ***** that is afraid to move too far away form his mommy and on their wedding day I told him..."Look, I don't really like either of you but if you break her heart I will break you knees with a bat." The guy is a creep and refuses to learn how to work on his cars. He has a 76 hearse that he has dumped way too much money in to and a real nice 65 hearse that he will either pay way too much to get fixed or run them both into the ground.....more stupid people!

The guy's *** you'll probably want to kick will be the insurance adjuster. Were not allowed to do that here with out a nice stay at the 49th Street motel followed up buy month's of paper work$$$$$$$, not to mention the anger management BS. :angry7: I tried to tell the officer "people remember pain".:-D

Since scamp has been dealing with insurance adjusters for quite a bit, let's hope that's not the case. 8)

What happened to you is my biggest fear: someone driving into me. Parts for your car are available and realitively reasonably priced, but who needs the headache? I hope you collect what you need to at least make the Dart perfect again.

I also must commend you on not turning the punk into an organ donor, although it would have been a hard sell for me.....
 
maybe it wont be totalled but you wont get more than 5k to fix 4 door dart.

I don't need 5k to fix it.
In Washington state in order to determan the value of a vehicle you have to go by 2 or more comparables (vehicles with around the same miles and options, in my case 70-76 Darts/Valiants with under 100,000 miles, that are currently for sale). You can not go by NADA or Kelly Blue Book. So if you are in Washington and a dealer pulls out either one of those to see what your trade in is worth, turn around and walk out! It is real fun when we are at the D.O.L. and they pull out a copy of Old Cars Price Guide and start to argue with me about what a car is worth for taxes, I ask them to turn it to page 13 or 14 (ads for appraisers), lay my card down on the counter and ask if they see anything familiar.:-D
If they did total it out for some stupid reason the fact that it has been in shows (pics to prove it), I am the second owner, its history has been documented very well, it is a "classic car", it has the original paint and how clean it is I have some comps that would back up $5500-$6000 easy. They are out there you just have to find them.

i heard a trick from a insurance adjuster. before you go make sure the car is spotless inside. rugs, seats, no trash, washed and pretty. the adjuster will see its well cared for and allways treat it differently than a neglected dirty car.

YES!

And for gods sake, if you are going to have an appraiser come out and look at your car CLEAN THE DAMN THING, vacuum it, clean all the fries out of the seats, wipe the 5 years of dust off the dash, take out your kids car seat and all its toys, try to scrub off the crayon marks your small human put on the rear door panels, scrub the tires, DETAIL DETAIL DETAIL. The number one thing we write in our reports is "Needs detail". It isn't that hard to spend a few hours cleaning and detailing your engine bay.
I have shown up to look at cars and asked the owner if they want me to leave and come back after I get some lunch so they can clean their car before I do my report. You would be surprised how much money you will loose just due to the lack of detail!
 
I haven't been in a real good fight in a little while. Am I the only one that thinks that getting punched in the face every once in a while is good for you weather you win or loose the fight? :angry7:

Here is your new front end. Sorry forgot to get pictures of the hood because it is trapped in the corner of the garage right now. The hood is super straight, bondo free with good gaps with when it was on the car. Like I said in the PM the quarters have some issues, but with your current quarters they can be saved. If you like it let me know when you will be coming through. I will be pulling the front end within the next week or so.
