ok so everytime i go racing i get alot of oil that makes its way back out the dip stick tube and i have a big oily mess to clean up, so i understand i have too much crank case pressure, i have a pvc hooked up to the back of my carb and a breather on the other valve cover what should i do to fix this problem?

first check your compression/ you obivously have blow by entering the crank case either from bad rings or the valves not sealing

Is the engine in good condition?, sounds like too much blow by, or poorly seated rings? I ran my 440 without a pvc and never had crank case pressure. Also the valve cover breather and dipstick tube on my 273 in my Barracuda is bone dry, even when I run it hard. Not sure what you can do aside from a rebuild.

One question, how much oil is in it? May sound dumb, but too much maybe? Dipstick read correctly?

Blow by should come out the breather cap and carry oil with it.
If the dip stick is climbing out of the tube, vibraton is the cause.
Change the bends in the stick or simply turn it 180 degrees might work.

it was a rebuild i did last years it has about 4500 miles on it, the dip stick and tube was purchaced with the new oil pan it should be reading correctly, i havent tried turning the stick around but come to think if it it does work its way up just a tiny bit. should i put a bend in the dipstick tube its self or just the stick?

THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP TO EVERYONE!

While I don't have the answer to the cause I did have that problem with my 73 'cuda. I put a distribiuter wire boot over the end of the dipstick to keep it from working it's way up and spraying oil all over.

To see if it's blowby, remove the pcv valve from the valve cover and have someone put it in gear and load the engine. If its blowby you'll see it chugging out the grommet. Kev

a little more curve or twist in the stick will make it harder to put in and help it stay there.

One more vote for blow by. Do a leakdown to test the rings' condition. Did it always do this, or is it a recent thing?

the pvc valve does no help went the carb is flloored wide open...there is no vacuum...

you need a pan evac system....
