Hi Fellas !!!
My name is Mario, I'm a 40 y.o. brazilian craze Mopar fan since I was born...
I love these great cars, here in Brazil they were produced as A-Bodies Dodge Dart from 1969 (the year I was born too !!) until 1981, when they were discontinued, and the factory was changed to produce VW trucks ( blearrrgh !!).
I used to live near the factory in São Paulo, and I had several Dodges in my life, including 4-door Darts and 2-door hardtop Darts & Chargers (a slightly modified sporty-flavour Dart, with some cosmetic details), they were all 318 V8 engine produced cars, many of them with 3 or 4-speed manual transmission, and some with TorqueFlite automatic drive.
It's been five years since I moved from the craziness of São Paulo's big city to a small and calm place in the extreme south of the country, near Uruguay and Argentina, a very good place to live in, and when I started dating my wife, I discovered she was not only a Mopar fan, but she learned how to drive in a Dodge Dart !!!
Man, that sounded perfect !!!
I began looking for some old family pics, and they showed me a very beautiful metallic brown 1979 2-door HT Dart, bought brand new with all options (it's very similar to the 1974 Dart Swinger of yours), only to be the second or third family's car and towing the family's trailer, but unfortunately it was sold to a museum near here back in 1998. I went to the collection owners and offered some trades to get the car back, but it was quite impossible on these days, as they didn't want to sell it back...
Well, to quit these painful days, this year the museum collection was completely dismantled due to government taxes serious problems with the keepers, and all cars & stuff related were in auction. Sad, but true. I saw the light at the end of the tunnel when they put our lovely Dart in the poll, and now, after a good fight with some crazy guys like me in the auction, I'm really proud to say that the car is OURS back again !!
I'm only waiting for the judge's deliberacy to take the car back home, and this will happen soon, in about two or three week's time. After sitting in a barn for twelve long years, our baby will be back, roaring the Mighty Mopar V8 high !!!
We're so happy that we want to share all these adventures with you !!
And now I'm sending some pics of our babe where it's sat since 1998, just waiting for our rescue...
And finally that's me inside the car, the last day I went to take these pics:
I'll send more pics of our Dart, since it was brand new, towing trailers, until the final rescue, just stay tuned for more news !!!
