Had an interesting thing happen a couple of days ago during a phone call. I drove up there to buy
a pair of roof rail weatherstrips for my '67 'Cuda Fastback back in January of this year.

It was not labeled as a back order but was labeled to drop-ship. Well, I figured
late March was long enough to wait......I can buy these on e-bay right now.

During the call I asked when they might be shipped. The answer was we don't
know. They said their vendors weren't shipping them any parts. I replied that I could get them on e-bay...if they are available from them,
why can't you get them? Ours come from a different vendor was the reply.

That's when I said I would drive up again and cancel the order and get my money refunded. The reply was sorry, you can't get a refund. I ask why and the reply was the bank had a hold on the funds or something to that effect.

They said I could trade the value to something else. I then said, are you folks going out of business? The reply was I can't tell you. She then said that they had let over half of their employees go.

I'm going up tomorrow (Thurs) to see what they might have on the shelf that I might need......good luck on that one!

All I'm saying here is BEWARE

My late buddy drove from Silver Springs to the Clearwater (St. Pete) store to buy some stuff for his Long Ram Dart, thinking it was a big place. All they had was a bunch of catalogs, hats and some Chevy valve covers. They said that they would accept his order but were not able to give him even so much a ballpark delivery date.
He left with nothing. That was 4 months after I ordered a A/C condenser for my 73 Dart (the one year that they mounted the dryer to the top passenger side of the condenser) and they sent me on a totally different one. I sent them pictures of the old one and the new one and they said that mine was not factory and they sent me the correct one.
I replied with pictures of a bunch of other 73s and even the shop manual showing mine was correct.
They finally replied that yes, mine old one was correct. They told me to send theirs back and they would give me a store credit but no refund or the correct condenser (not enough demand).
I told them that they did not have anything that I wanted or would buy from them as their whole business system sucked.

Hey Tony, their was a recent thread in the last 2 weeks from someone that had the same runaround that you did, and from what the OP said in the thread, they are going tits up!! Good luck with everything, hey see what they got for 69 cudas!! If the word is out there that they are going out of business, I can imagine it would be like sharks to blood.

From my previous experience the didn't stock a lot of stuff back when I was buying up parts for my restoration. What I liked about them was that they were fairly close to me. I would drive up and place an order, if they didn't have it, they would drop ship it with free shipping regardless of the size. That saved me
some bucks!

Tony

Hope it works out for you

I know the Paddock was selling off some of the cars in his collection and there are more to go thru the Mecum auction in may

Last year he sold a 68 GTS 383 car for 28,500. This was a nice car (buddy use to own it) Owner of Paddock lost about 5 grand over his purchase price

With the economy in the shape it is now I can see them going out.

The Largo FL PADDOCK store and the other one out west closed a long time ago. The current owner bought The Paddock and closed the other 2 stores right away. It was started in Knightstown, IN and they built a new store just north of town.

I bought quite a few things for my Dart there. Both at the old store in downtown KTown and the new store. Like Tony I like the fact it was close (was about 30 miles from home before I moved) Could drive out save shipping and get right away of have drop shipped.

I would hate to see them close, hope they get it worked out. and Hope Tony gets his money's worth.

Sad news.
I can just imagine a company like that inveresting in R&D to bring a needed part to market, then finding a Chineese knock off on ebay ahead of them. I would probably throw in the towel too.
I do hope you get something for your money though. Good luck

That one is long gone to Dave. They were the worst. Coolest part was when they had Galen G's 69 GTX sitting in there.
I bought some engine paint from them and halfway through the second can it stops spraying from loss of arisol in the can. I take it back and the tool at the counter says you could have stoped when I seen there was a problem with it. DUH! Thats when I did stop. Cant help I was halfway through the can.
Anyway he did give me a can of paint but was acting like I was trying to pull a fast one on him.......over a can of paint.

Sorry for your problems with them Tony and thanks for the heads up.

Uhhhhhh ... Galen! Don't get me started!

Anyway, I hope everyone that has current dealings with the Paddock makes out ok. Who knows how this will play out for them but I hope, in the end, the customers are taken care of.

Tony,
As Wildcat said, it closed a long time ago. I had my issue with them in 2000.

I'm sorry to hear of their dilemma.
They seamed kind of notorious for back orders in the past.
I've had a couple of my orders all or part of it back ordered.
One I finally canceled because it took almost a year.
I never got a refund either. Luck it was less than 20 bucks.
I had an emblem on back order. When it final came they had removed or covered most of the part or catalog labels. One I peeled back and a Year One
catalog number was under it.

Even though I had problems with back orders from them. I wish them luck I hate to see any company go under.

Went back up today. They owed me $98.00 bucks so I traded it out on some other items that I needed. The guy was very nice, even threw in a t-shirt for free. At this time I think it would still be ok to buy from them if they have what you want in stock.

If I had not paid cash back in January and used a credit card, I could have probably got them to issue me a credit.

I came out ok on this one and I got my roof rail weatherstrip for the Fastback from Tamraz yesterday.

padock has allways sent my parts on time thats to bad hope they dont go out at the same time i thank there all like that padock tamaraz and yearone they offer up alot of stuf they dont stock 2 weaks ago i ordered new wiring harness for a 73 charger from year one they sent the engine harness but not the forward light harness i called them and they siad it would be 6 to 8 weaks i asked the guy on the phone if him and his brother had to fight over a penny to stretch into wire for my harness lol he says its not there fault it was there vendor who was taking so long i say if they dont stock somthing they should clearly state that and how long it will take

When I lived in San Bernardino, their Redlands store was four miles from my house. Bought quite a bit of stuff from them over the years, some of which was occasionally back ordered but always showed up eventually.

One day I drove over there to get something small -- door lock gaskets or something -- and they were GONE. Empty parking lot, empty building, not even a sign on the door. It was nice while it lasted. :)

Glad to hear you were able to get some stuff you needed Tony!

I didn't see anything in print (easily may have missed it) regarding the Paddock going out of business.
I bought a part today for my '69 Dart from one of my club members who mistakenly bought the wrong part for his '67 Barracuda. Came home to check the current price on the net to see how much I may saved, but can't bring up their website on the net.
It turned out a win/win for both of us. Found the part available from Legendary as the same price, so I saved shipping. My friend got rid of an item he could no longer return if The Paddock is out of business.

there store is closed up but nobody seems to know if permanent.

Hey Challengergary I just ordered about $300 worth of stuff that was all on backorder. I called them to cancel because found it cheaper at jacksauto and in stock. They are not even answering the phones I get a message about calling back durring business hours mon thru fri. I faxed them a cancel order and called my credit card company to let them know. My card company stated that nothing had been charged and there were no pending charges from them either. I did the whole order online and everything seemed to go fine but still nothing was ordered. Just letting you know.

Thanks for the info. I've bought several things from the paddock, I haven't had any problems, but the last thing I ordered was about a year ago. thats too bad I liked their stuff.

I am going to start buying parts soon..any other companies look shaky ??
