The rubber mallet is a good idea. Also try a very thin skim coat of lube like Vaseline on the surfaces of the retaining clip that contact both the inside door skin & the lock cylinder groove.

I am working on a 74 Duster. I need the 4 clips that hold the rear bumper reinforcement bolts in place so they don't fall out while you are attaching the rear bumper to the impact absorbers, I believe they are part # 6030548

Can you check the numbers again? I believe the 6453 was for an automatic & the 6452 was 4 speed.
