Confused what to do with a 5.9L serpentine setup

If you go back and look at the pics I posted, the stud on the alternator is SUPER close to hitting the fabricated aluminum valve cover. I have shaft mounted roller rockers that require tall valve covers so the alternator with the side mount battery lug will be a great solution.

Confused what to do with a 5.9L serpentine setup

Oh hell yeah, I’m going to track down one of those alternators for sure so I don’t have to dent the valve cover

Confused what to do with a 5.9L serpentine setup

A smaller idler will probably work. I was lucky and got a non-A/C alternator bracket with the relocated idler position to clear. Regardless, it's a pain in the butt to put this all together lol.

Confused what to do with a 5.9L serpentine setup

I'm not sure if mine is the 117A or 136A but I believe the cases are the same. I tried to go the same alternator mount as you but the van PS pump mount caused the belt to rub the water pump pulley because the idler pulley locations on the A/C and non-A/C alternator mounts are in different locations.

GREAT build! I just read the whole thing and am very impressed with the attention to detail!

    69 Dart 340 Swinger Street/Road Race build

The second 2 pics is after I initially trimmed the inside radius. Then I trimmed the last little bit because I didn't like 1/8" of clearance. I did pull my engine to do this so I could see your frustrations in trimming yours. I was going to put a QA1 K-member in and I think I will hold off. The...

Yes, the kick outs protrude quite a bit. I trimmed 3/4” off the entire K-member around the inside radius and it was barely enough to clear, especially the passenger side. Here’s some pics of the extra I trimmed on the passenger side just recently.

They are 18x9.5" squared +25 rear and +35 offset front. I'm still making progress, but nothing worth posting about. Spending a lot of time gathering Magnum accessory brackets to make the serpentine set up work. I'll be drilling the front of my heads soon to bolt up the Magnum brackets to LA...

    Anyone waiting on Hotchkis parts!?

I had the same problem with a Hotchkis front sway bar, waited over 4 months for it. I will say that it was worth the wait. I originally ordered a Hellwig sway bar and sent it back. The Hotchkis is a very nice bar.

Confused what to do with a 5.9L serpentine setup

I'm still trying to track down a Magnum non/AC alternator bracket. Then I'm going to pull my engine and align the Magnum accessory brackets off the one hole one the bottom of each head and use transfer punches to mark the other holes needed. Then i'm going to drill and tap the heads for the...

Thank you, that looks really clean and barely noticeable. I think this is the best route and how I will move forward.

    318 vs 360 opinion

I would find a good condition 5.9 and swap that in. The torque increase is a pretty noticeable difference between the two, especially down low where a street car needs it.

    318 vs 360 opinion

I've had a few of these Rams, including one with the Mopar performance computer requiring premium fuel. The 5.9 trucks still had a noticeable power increase, mostly bottom end torque. Also, I thought the 5.2 trucks had a hotter cam and tune from the factory than the 5.9 came with? My 5.9 trucks...
