    Distributor Install & Initial Setup

Hi all, I am finally within striking distancing of breaking in my 408. I'm looking for guidance on the initial timing setup and distributor install. From reading older posts, my manuals and hopefully common sense this is my plan, and just wanting to make sure i have no holes in this. TDC is...

Oil Filter Leaking at First Prime of Oil Pump

Check back of valve cover, nice and dry. Trying to decide if I reuse this plate with new gaskets or try the Canton. Hopefully watch it tomorrow to see where oil leaks from. It sure looks like the filter itself and not the mount, but hard to say until I can see. Could the paint on the plate...

Oil Filter Leaking at First Prime of Oil Pump

bit more information. I have to purchase a new oil pressure gauge (current one isn't reading) so i don't have the pressure available. it is the stock style plate (not angled adapter) and i haven't pulled the plate off to confirm gasket yet (was fighting with it late last night and i didn't...

Oil Filter Leaking at First Prime of Oil Pump

Hi Everyone, I finally got time (after 3 moves in 3 years) to prime my new build (408 LA) and I found a significant oil leak that i believe is from the oil filter (not the plate). Using a drill to circulate a HV melling oil pump. I tried 2 filters just to confirm, and both leaked. After a...

    FiTech 1200 PA system added

Great to know. Gives me a good starting point. Did you end up running a colder spark plug? I'm finding some conflicting information on need and also on extended tip electrode. Thanks

    FiTech 1200 PA system added

Hey Jack, after 2 years I'm close to finally getting my 360 running with a 6v71 fitech setup. May fire on the long weekend for the first time. Was curious what you found for initial timing with the setup?

    A833 input shaft diameter

Makes perfect sense then. I dont believe the bushing is far enough into the crankshaft. The front part of shaft is getting in, but I believe its getting hung up on the ridge, although the ridge on mine is a bit closer to the end than what those show.

    A833 input shaft diameter

Absolutely. Appreciate the response. I do have room to drive the pilot bushing in farther. The depth of the crank hole (deepest point to outside of pilot bushing) is 1.75". By driving in further, this should give me the clearance I need to get the splines in (as it was today, they were just...

    A833 input shaft diameter

Was actually thinking that as well. Concern was how far back was ok (I'm going to be reassuring the depth of hole in crank to be certain shaft isn't too long

    A833 input shaft diameter

So i spent the better part of 2 days trying to get this a833 mounted (behind a 360). I keep running into an issue where the input shaft will only get so far before binding. The crankshaft is a new forged eagle crank with a dorman pilot bushing in it. After further investigation, I've found...

    Tailshaft pad coming up short...

Hi all, its not an abody, but i suspect you will have the answer. I'm attempting to install an a833 from a 71 dart (a body tailhousing) into an 84 d150 1/ton. I knew the tailhousings were shorter on an a body, but assumed/thought the cross member mounting pad would be the same on all...

    Instrument Cluster Plug

Hi all, lookign for some assistance for a bonehead move i made...75 duster 360. while pulling out the cluster for restoration of car, the cluster plug was stuck on, so i cut the wires off the plug with the plan to re-solder them. In the meantime I have now misplaced my plug, and I can't find a...
