Thanks for the compliments!
It's good to finally have the thing on the ground again. This weekend I replaced the timing chain cover gasket that was leaking coolant for a while. I was going to drive the car to work this week, but my clutch reservoir cracked when I was trying to stop a leak from...
71dusterdan, I personally like the satin look. The only bad thing I can think of is that grease/greasy fingerprints don't just wipe away. My duster was flat/satin black for two years in the Florida sun with no wax and held up fine, the demon was 6 months before I moved into a house with a...
Thanks, The ride is good, especially from what I was previously used to. if you look in some past posts you can see the coilovers uncompressed. For some reason these springs that came with the conversion kit have the bottom half of the coils closer together/tighter wound at rest.
Heres the...
Well it's finally on the ground! I drove it a couple miles and everything went great. I took some video of the suspension too, I'll be uploading it later.
The next step is to find a good tuner to get my efi where it needs to be, and before or after that I need to rebuild my transmission.
Thanks guys, I'll post some files of my templates when the cars held its own weight for more than a week! I was able to set the pinion angle (moved it 15+ degrees up from pics above) and got the axle position set front to back in the car, I still need to check side to side alignment, make new...
Well I made good progress this week, it's almost all bolted up, I just need to set the pinion angle and center the axle under the car. I also need to run a couple new brake lines and put in new bearing and seals on the axle.
Absolutely no question, I've regretted that the last year or so. But when I bought the body almost 5 years ago I liked the shortbed regular cab look and didn't like the proportions of long beds or extended cabs. Being a bit more practical now I know I need a rear seat for passengers or just dry...
Got everything welded in and my dad helped me paint the underbody. I'm hoping that I can get the differential mounts gusseted and the links welded together this week, maybe get it on the ground in a week or so if there are no hang ups (still need to press in/out new axle bearings and seals too)
We'll take two: tonight I got the new coulover crossmember welded in for good and the coilovers located (at least according to my measurements). Tomorrows goals are to gusset and finish weld everything and clean the underbody of any unnecessary tabs.
Sorry to hear about your accident, glad youre ok, but hopefully you can or were made whole from that accident. Don't worry about the Ram, the frame I used for the kaiser was leftover from my friends ex cab short bed conversion on his 97. My friend also had a spare 80k mile 6bt/nv4500, so the...
I don't mean to directly bad mouth Hotchkis, just express my displeasure with them and hopefully help someone whose looking for a rear suspension make an educated decision.
These springs are the same set I've had since the demon ran (6-7000mi of street only use). I never received a warranty...
I told myself I wasn't going to post anything else on this, but when I saw this I couldn't stop myself. after 6000 miles, maybe a year old and the bolt that holds the spring pack together is sheared off! I'm sure this was my fault too somehow. I guess you need to put another finger up for...
