Thinking about checking out this 65 Barracuda

the fender tag decodes as a formula s comando 4 speed car. Red exterior, black interior and black stripe. i would be concerned that the fender tag is a different color and appears bent. could be from a different car. Could be a formula s clone and someone took the fender tag off a formula s...

    340 with edelbrock heads overheating

harland sharp makes a rocker specifically for these heads will be using those first. I think the valves are hanging open a little bit because after checking and checking and finding no vacumne leak its got to be this. I think the added friction is causing it. there is one valve that no matter...

    340 with edelbrock heads overheating

I agree, the heads are running cooler than the block. I think i found the problem. Funny thing is i did this same swap 12 years ago and used 273 rockers. had zero problems. no longer have the car so edelbrock changed something or i got lucky last time

its not my maturity level that is the issue, you really need to look in the mirror, I never said it was overheating with the x heads.

    340 with edelbrock heads overheating

Thanks Rusty, I think i figured out to not run it again. This may or may not be the problem. Yeah you did insult me but you also insulted everyone who made comments on this post too. Reason being is I mentioned the 273 rockers on the initial post. No-one mentioned that those could be the...

    340 with edelbrock heads overheating

ok update. i overooked on the edelbrock instructions where it says the adjustible stock rockers will hit the sping retainers. Well sure enough I could see where the stock 273 rockers hit the sping retainers. I tried a differnt carb with no effect what so ever on the idle mixture screws. They do...

    340 with edelbrock heads overheating

ok, got it back togeher . same thing is happening. one thing i did while playing around trying to figure what the heck is going on is i disconnected the pvc at the carb . the idle increased. Then i took it off at the valve cover while still plugged into carb, it did not like that. When i...

    340 with edelbrock heads overheating

ok, got the heads checked out. They were both bowed. He had to take out .6000 off each head. Keep in mind the heads never got hotter than 215 or so based on my ir gun. so it may have been warped heads the entire time. not sure how much these heads can take in terms of heat but this was a very...

    340 with edelbrock heads overheating

ok, checked then rechecked the cam and it is good each time comes back at 105.5. it does not appear to be the cam. Heads are at the engine builder he is going to make sure there are no problems with those. If all is good will slap everything back together. Then have an excorsism to remove the...
