Project Crusty Biscuit (65 Plymouth Valiant)

Hey Chris. I did the exact same thing on my Swinger. It was really one of the easiest of the thousand projects that involves restoring an on Dodge :-) My doner was from an 05 Crown Vic 28-spline and like yours is a 1-legger. I feel it's time to do a small upgrade and drop a Limited Slip in. I...

    Reducing the Beak?

Best I can do here buddy. The mission was focused and I didn't take many in-process pics :-( I left the weld seam visible, for those that don't think it really happened.

    Reducing the Beak?

No offense but Standup 303 posted if anyone had tried to remove the beak nose. He's got his canvas and I respect it. I respect every's car that they like/love. I never stated that it was "an improvement" but in my opinion, it is. I had a 73 Dart Sport back in the day and I tolerated the beak...

    Reducing the Beak?

Angle grinder will fix it. I cut mine off. It was a lot of work but I like it. Angle grinder takes the beak off, no problem. Angle grinder right down the center of the hood takes out that tall ridge too. I got a 71 bumper and had to use my angle grinder to shorten the corners to fit. I went on...

    53 New Yorker 5.7 Hemi 545rfe swap

Hmmm... OK. I already have either the "no start" or the "no transmission" issues. It seems like Hot Wire and Mega Squirt get the most praises. I'll be doing some phone time with them tomorrow. Thanks for the quick input (I wasn't expecting that :-) ).

    53 New Yorker 5.7 Hemi 545rfe swap

Ken. Did you get the issues cleared up? I'm about to have to buy a stand alone and you stated that Swap Specialties was a "big mistake". Are they junk? G50

Getting ready to swap a 5.7 into my 73 Dart Swinger

I just NOW got this notice but I see you've posted it a couple of weeks ago :-( If you've made up your mind, then it's done. THIS is the very reason that I moved my entire steering shaft away from the header area (about an inch). I used 2 3/4" swivel joints to accommodate the angle. It created...

Getting ready to swap a 5.7 into my 73 Dart Swinger

I finally see why everyone's so wound up about motor mounts, TTI, spools, steering box... My spooles were pretty shot. Not surprising as the entire bottom looked like they used the car as a stump-jumper. 1 MM was fairly cracked and the other was welded at the factory, late on a Friday before a...

Getting ready to swap a 5.7 into my 73 Dart Swinger

HAHAHAHAHA! Sublimeone! You are SO ******* right-on! I was a professional welder for the first 20 years out of high school. Metal instills no fear in this man! Why can't I do this? The answer turns into step 1 of the journey. I get my tune right (electronics is my huge weakness) and plates on...

    Calipers wont release

OK So that explains why there was no return spring then. Now what? There's a contact bolt (if you will) between the MC and the BB. There's plenty of room to screw that in and lock it down again. Could it just be from run too far out from the factory (China?)? G50

    73 Dart Swinger "Tetanus"

Time to start getting the little "bugs" out of the car now. Front calipers weren't releasing. after doing some checking around all of my work and adjusting the push rod, I found out that my pedal wasn't fully returning up. 1 dumb spring and it's fixed. Who's dumb here? :-) I guess the only bad...
