5.7 vs 6.4 SRT build and swap

6.4 block is beefier than the 5.7. The 5.7 has a cast crank; the 6.4 crank is forged. 6.4 is a much better platform to start with. Add some "drop in" forged rods / pistons and you have a real nice short block.

    Oil pan.

I needed a rear sump pan for my AlterKtion equipped Cuda or I would have been all over this pan. That is a REAL NICE setup and a very good value. (IMO)

    For engine swap...difference between LA 318 / 360

Is there anyone who know's specifically the differences between the LA 318 and 360 engines for a direct swap. A friend wants to replace a tired LA318 in a '71 B body with a LA360 crate motor he's been researching. From many years ago, I know it's not an exact swap. From what I can recall...

Any concerns going .040 over on a 5.7?

Well, just because someone makes pistons that size, "doesn't mean you should". I have factory/dealer tech literature (somewhere) from when the 5.7 and 6.1 engines were the only players at that point, stating no more than .020 on one and .030 on the other. It might have been .020 on the 6.1...

    TTI header woes

I know they have at least one or more front frames either with or without the inner fender wells attached, that they originally used to design the headers with their engine mounts. I kinda doubt they had the brake valve bolted in place when they did this. My valve was in the way but I would...

    TTI header woes

I haven't seen the Doug's headers, but the Hookers I've seen are kind of a mid-length header, whereas the TTIs are a full length. Since I went to the aftermarket front suspension, the TTI made for it fit phenominal. I truly think the stock suspension in an A body makes it VERY difficult to...

    TTI header woes

I had the same problem years ago. They hit there and they also try to share the same space with the left torsion bar. At the start of my build, I refused to dent/smash the headers in to make them fit. I had to do that sort of stuff when I was a kid, and put up with rattles, chafing, etc...

    Pushrod problems.

When you start mixing and matching to the extent you are, you'd better start working with someone who KNOWS what they're doing and can guide you correctly. Going off input from everyone on the internet will likely lead to bent pushrods; bent valves or even broken pistons...

Anyone dealt with Modern Muscle Extreme AKA Modern Muscle Performance

I've dealt with them in the past. Stellar vendor at that time. Dave Weber knows these Hemis real well and has worked hard to build his business. I use to call "after hours" and he'd pick up the phone every time. That's how I always got through to him the easiest. I don't know how big...

    need knowledge please

I agree, it appears to be an '06 with the plastic valve covers. The aluminum pan does not necessarily make it from a car, but the aluminum with front sump does. Aluminum with rear sump would be Grand Cherokee. So your overall goal is what? Going into what? You want fuel injection or...

    need knowledge please

Do you know what your 5.7 came out of? Truck? Car? There are a couple of differences between the two. Year model helps too, for example, an '05 truck Hemi does not have MDS whereas, they added it to the '06 trucks (with auto trans). Little things like this (and your intended use of the...

    550hp in a Gen 3 Hemi

What I like about the 6.1 is it makes a good, basic hot rod engine. No MDS; no VVT; the cam is simple and basic; good heads; block is beefed up a little more than the 5.7; no complex tuning to deal with (because no MDS / VVT). My original intent was a street / strip car. The E.T...
