I scored an older 800cfm aftermarket thermoquad spreadbore manual trans carb. I want to put it on my 383 with new Eddie heads and Eddie rpm performer intake. Do I need an adapter spacer to fit on the manifold?
My cam in my 383 engine right now is the old Mopar purple cam? 284/484. Maybe it will help somewhat. I always thought the cam though not ground breaking was a good solid hp and torque producer.
Rusty what are you talking about? I’m going to follow the instructions by Rhoads which says I don’t have to pump up or preload with oil before installation. That’s basically what you said isn’t it? You don’t have to pre-fill or soak them before installation. Now I understand why. I’m taking...
Along with all the advice given to check and or correct the wheel hop issues which I thank you all for I’m hearing loud and clear if the mopar is wheel hoping something is not correct.
I’m replacing my standard hyd mopar flat tappet lifters in my 383 with rhoads hyd flat tappet lifters. The installation directions are confusing to me at one point. It states to set them up by determining when the pushrods just start to compress down ever so slightly on the cup within the...

Yellow rose just an expression. I should rephrase that as dumping the clutch and it grabbing solid and assuming the tires aren’t drag radials but street tires my experience has been tire spin but not damage to drive train at least with a healthy 8 3/4.
So re-adjust the clutch linkage so that the clutch grabs farther down? Is the thinking if there is more travel to engage and release the clutch then it’s easier to let it out without having it grab too harshly? My only concern is that in my previous cars if things were set up correct there...
Thank you everyone for all the input and info. Yes I’ll look into having a leak down and compression test done because that will give me affirmation that I have good cylinder pressure and that the valves are opening and closing properly. I’ll also keep everyone updated on the outcome of this...
I wanted to answer a couple of questions that were brought up. There is no choke on my speed demon carb. Therefore you have to feather the throttle for a few minutes until the car warms up then idle should be stable. Second I did have a vacuum leak when I re-assembled the engine. That was...
