Just wanted to update everyone who helped! Replaced my unilite distributor with a Mopar performance kit and ALL my problems are gone! Thanks again for all the input, it's much appreciated. Sooooo glad I'm done chasing this issue. The car runs like a dream!
Well I finally had a little more time to play with the car over the weekend. I started with the richer carb jets with absolutely no change. Removed valve covers and watched all the rocker arms move. They all seem to be moving about the same distance just by the eye test. I then backed off all...
Gotcha. I was looking at your distributor and may end up going that way. I will be putting it in a 69 Cuda 340 and would appreciate it if you could let me know what else I will need to complete the system.
Thanks
On my list of things to check! I did a compression check on it this morning and they were all close. Lowest was 135 and high was 142. The metering rods I have made no difference. If I get a chance this week, I will pull the covers and have a look .
Thanks
I am going to have to pick some up tomorrow. All I have is a set of 7347s from another carb. I threw them in for the heck of it and am about to take it for a drive.
Sorry, I wasn't trying to ignore you. In the middle of a yard project with my wife and trying to get to the bottom of this. I took the air cleaner off and checked the wires again and they are correct. It has a unilite distributor in it and I've read multiple horror stories about them. Wondering...
It definitely not a pop pop pop. More like one or two pops on acceleration and then clears up once it's off that 1000-1200 rpm range. It will also do it randomly on the highway if the motor slows down going up a hill in 4th gear. If I speed up to keep the rpm up, it's fine
