    Tire age

Timely subject. I put new reproduction E70-14 white letter Goodyear Polyglas tires on the Duster about 7 years ago. 2,000 miles later they still look and perform as new. The car lives in the shop 98% of the time with no weight on the tires. So the above said, and since they’re not radials...

    Kelsey Hayes Pulling Problem

Ok, to put the period on the end of the sentence.... I believe there were a couple of problems. One the brake hoses for the front had been on the shelf (my shop) for several years. For bonehead reasons, at one point in the total brake rebuild, I used vice grips to pinch the left front hose...

    My new sanctuary.

JW is spot on with his comments. One way to make a lift work is use roll up doors rather than standard overhead doors. Sometimes, if one's been living right these come up used (factory applications) for not much money. If I were in your part of the world, I'd give a hard look at in floor heat...

School me on 70 Duster 4 speed shifter handle please

THANKS rlcbit!!! Got the shifter installed, man it's so much nicer than the little short stubby unit I'd had in place for the past 25 years. What was I thinking "head slap":realcrazy:

[WANTED] 4 speed shifter handle 1970 Duster

It's a bucket seat, non console car. Based on internet info I gleamed earlier today (we know that's gotta be right!) I need a 5973 stick. But I'm no expert for sure.

School me on 70 Duster 4 speed shifter handle please

Yep I do have a 70/71 parts manual. According to it, the part number I need is 2996 313. And back in the day I could walk in to the parts counter with that info and have one in a couple days. Unfortunately the part number and number on the shifter aren't the same.

School me on 70 Duster 4 speed shifter handle please

My car, 70 Duster is the red/white interior one. Of course the shifter isn't stock, but it was cool when installed back in the early 80's. And stupid me I didn't keep the stocker. Now I'm searching for a stock shifter handle and find a few on ebay that specifically say 71 or newer. My quick...

    Kelsey Hayes Pulling Problem

Agree and I'd considered that. It's just that it seems to have plenty of fluid available when we bleed it. I verywell may be barking up the wrong tree though by focusing on the right side.

    Kelsey Hayes Pulling Problem

Over the winter I put my 70 Duster back on the road, bringing it back after a 10 year hiatus in the back of the shop. One of the bigger items on the check list was getting the brakes in order. To that end I installed a new master cylinder, pulled and cleaned the proportioning valve, replaced all...

Heat soak? Edelbrock carb & air gap

You're very likely right, I've got similar stories I could share. Ethanol in gasoline has made the problem worse. An easy test is to find some non-ethanol premium and give it a go. One common bit of advise is to install a Phenolic carb spacer, personally I've never had much success or seen...

MOPAR OF THE MONTH MARCH 2017

Well, yes that is a 51 Chevy 5 window 3600 T5 five speed with Clark flatbed and 47k original miles lurking in the background on one of the Duster shots. It's a daily driver type that hauls hay, fire wood and makes runs to town on a frequent basis. The Duster has taken over some of the town...

    Ron's 1970 340 4 speed Duster

Had the Duster (my second car) since early 71, 46 years. Wife and I used to cruse the driveins looking for the local "fast" cars for a little fun. Always claimed stock, even with headers, 4.56s or 4.10's or 3.91s, 1,000 cfm T'quad or whatever that weekends combination was. Most...
