Hi,
I had the same problem when I first bought this car.. I took it to my mechanic and he said my transmission was shot.. He found an a833 from 67 or 68 I believe, and they have synchros.. The early ones had no synchros so it made it extremely hard to downshift.. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions

Hi, I saw a thread you posted on about slick shift 4-speeds & wondered if you could give me some tips on using & maintaining these transmissions as I have bought one of Herb McCandles's 4-speeds to go behind my Don Carlton Hemi. I was going to put this setup in my '70 Barracuda but it got a bit out of hand with 16 plugs, dominators & a trans you can't down shift? so I'll probably buy a rolling '72 Cuda or '73 Duster so any info you could give me would be most helpful, Thanks
