Gauge is reading wrong. Either the wrong resistance is being given to the gauge, or..... The sending unit was installed incorrectly. The tank holds approx. 18 gallons if its an original style tank.

I'm having issues with my "new to me duster" it has an after market electric fuel pump. But my issue runs like this. the after market fuel gauge is telling me its empty, so i run it out of gas i put maybe 2 gallons in and get it running again to go to the gas station. It would only take a max of 8 gallons. No big deal right? Well next time my gauge reads empty I fill it up. Only another 8 gallons again. What could be stopping my gas tank from putting more than just 8 gallons in? OR my after market gauge is reading wrong
