Im getting ready to build my 8.75 489. Im going with a spool, 4.56 gears and new axles. What do yall have, which do yall perfer and are you satisfied with what yall have?

I have both,Moser,s in my 73 Dart Sport 340 with 8 3/4 and also have narrowed Strange axels in my 66 Dart 8 3/4.I,m gonna stick with Strange.Oh,I also have a spool from Strange in the 66 Dart.Good luck.

I'm running mosier axles with green bearings in my 8 3/4. Easy to install, nice looking axles, haven't broke em yet. I'm only pushing about 375hp with 3.23 gears so they really haven't been subjected to alot of abuse..

I`m using Moser axles and so far, so good. I can vouch for Moser`s customer service, they`re simply the best. I haven`t dealt with Strange, I`ve heard many testimonials about the excellent quality of their products but I`ve never personally worked with them.

Moser makes a fabbed 8.75 housing, at least they are supporting the 8-3/4 rear. No one else offers a housing for the 8-3/4.

A friend just bought a ford 9in from strange. They went above and beyond to make sure he was getting the right parts and that they fit the way he wanted. They even had him send the bearings that worked with his rear disc kit so they could install them. He literally spent two hours on the phone with them when he ordered.

Everything showed up, looks perfect, and fit exactly the way it needed to.

Well if you're using an iron case and street gears either one will do. You'll break either of them before you break an axle.

You know you're a car real guy when you know exactly what the topic is about just by seeing the names of two companies. And I'm only 18.

Running Moser axles and an a center section with spool and 4.30's in my 8 3/4..very satisfied with the performance and quality..well worth the money spent..:-D:-D

The main reason im asking is i got a 8.75 out of a 79 D100 worlock??? truck, axles and the center section for free. I plan on sending it to moser to have them cut it down for $125 (i think) and I saw that moser had a spool and axle package.

Another question is... Should I get the truck axles cut down? (heard that they were beefier and stronger) or should I just buy a packaged deal?

I've never dealt with Moser, but Strange was awesome and had terrific customer service when I ordered a complete narrowed Strange S60 with disc brakes and 373 detroit locker.

Both make top notch products. For cheap stuff like modified stock axles go Moser. For high dollar stuff go Strange.

Why don't you call Moser, Mark Williams, Strange, Currie see who has what you want...

I have and do use moser, MW, strange and currie..... i have had a mistake made with moser.

Some things you can have done locally to

Actually, Moser offers an 8 3/4" housing and axles, but doesn't offer a complete bolt-on rear-end kit on their site (I'm sure they would make one).

Strange DOES offer a bolt-on housing AND complete rear-end packages for almost any Mopar you could think of, including Dart, Scamp, Valiant, Duster... check their page for the latest.

I am not picking a fight with anyone, just want to make sure all the info is out there.

66 dartman is talking about Moser's 8-3/4 housing. Those applications you linked to are for the Strange S60 DANA rear. Two different rears. Both will burn rubber. :burnout:

I have a strange S 60 rear end in my Barracuda. They were very good to deal with and $ for $ I don't think you can beat the price or the performance. I also had a 83/4 rebuilt with Moser axels. This was a complete rebuild, new gears, sure grip, and bearings. When the dust settled the new strange rear end was cheaper.

I have to say Moser. If my wife caught me with strange, I'd be in trouble. :toothy10:

8 3/4's were not available in a truck after '74. If the rear is truely out of a '79 then it is not an 8 3/4 and will either be an 8 1/4 or 9 1/4.

As far as the companies listed. I presently have Moser, Strange and Dutchman Axles and have had no issue with any of them. I have been using Dutchman recently because of their location. They are in Oregon and I am in Washington so I save on the freight costs.

Definately Strange, had them narrow my D60 and their customer service is second to none. Also been around alot longer.

i have a strange light weight spool in mine and i really kike thier craftsmanship but i am running a yukon gear and moser axles all three make really nice stuff

I ordered a set of Mosers and when I got em one was threaded for studs and one wasnt, called em up and they said that that would be impossible as they have strict quality control. I did not have the time to send them back so I went and bought a $40 tap and threaded it myself. I ran them for about 6 years and never broke one but will not deal with them again so therfore I vote for Strange as I have some of those also.

My S60 just showed up yesterday. I'll let you know in a week or two when I get it installed.
